usually fluctuation in the temperature causes odd behaviour with guppies. Make sure that your tank has a constant temperature at all times.
Also, if you tend to clean your tank regularly try and clean it less, they are very much dependant in living in a stable environment and everytime you clean the tank it destroys the bacteria etc that they need.
Simple methodology would be to clean the tank only once eevry three months or so but replace 10% of the water with fresh water every so often (depending on the size of tank this is usually only about 2 litres of water that need to be removed and replaced)

Your guppies most probably are pregnant as long as they have been near a male they usually have their fry 4 weeks later. Unfortunately there are no real signs of her about to give birth, some become very solitary and still near to the birth. If you don't catch your fry soon after she has had them then they will most probably get eaten by her and the rest of the fish.

Pregnancy signs in a guppy are large belly, (looks boxy from the front) and a much darker gravid spot, when the female is nearly ready to give birth you can sometimes see the fry inside her, its best to put her in a catchment tank with a false bottom so that when she does give birth her fry will sink to the bottom of the catchment tank and so wont get eaten by her or the other fish.

So in answer to your question nothing is wrong with them, they sound pregnant to me and if you want to save your fry, then put them in catchment tanks

If they don't give birth the fry get re-absorbed - particularly if you don't feed them well. Often they will give birth and the adults will eat the babies anyway.

You could try adding a couple of males to the tank - I always find that the females give birth more frequently in tanks with males present (probably an instinct to keep producing as often as possible).

It normally takes 14-20 days from fat tummy to new fry, so keep an eye on them for a couple of weeks.

First order of business.. guppies definitely do not give birth through their mouths... secondly.. i have bought a lot of pregnant fish at fish stores and gotten babies from them within days to a week. If they are getting bigger, they are probably still pregnant. if you want to keep the babies you will have to put the biggest female in a breeding net then you can switch out the females. you will probably have a bunch of babies soon, good luck :)

The whole process should take about two weeks from the first signs, but in your case; in the last two days her tummy will double in size. The black are the babies. She will probably absorb her fry though.

From experience, if you want babies you cannot buy pregnant females. The best way is just to get one or two males.

Good luck and enjoy the hobby!

pregnant again thats why you should keep the ratio of about 3 male to one female gives them a bit of a rest instead of being constantly chased, hope this helps. thanks elvis for correcting me think its time for bed
