Ok bla bla bla i want a saltwater aquarium. Could anyone tell me how much it will cost to set up a 75 gallon saltwater? Is 2000 dollars enough? At my pet store live rock cost 6 dollars a pound. In the price estimate dont include corals or fish.

Also im confused about sumps. I went to the fish store the other day and looked around. They had this huge plexiglass thing called a sump for 55-75 gallon aquariums. It cost 400 dollars. Is a sump absolutely neccesary? What is it anyways? advice please?

One of my angel fish's fins have been eaten away by the neons that I had in the tank. The angel fish is still alive and well after two weeks. She just struggles to swim with the rest of the angels. I have put her now in a separation tank because the other angels seem to want to kill her because she can't keep up. Is there medicine or treatment I could give her?

I have 2 black moors and they are so active, 24 hrs they keep on digging gravels and searching for food but when I feed them they can't pick the food even food pass from their mouth. I am feeding them goldfish pellets. I also have 2 lionhead goldfish but they eat very well. How can I feed them? When I tell this to the person whom I bough the fish, he told me that black moors can't see like other goldfish. So, it will be difficult for them to eat. But I don't believe him coz black moors are also from same species and also they have bigger eyes than other goldfish?

I have 12 gal saltwater tank and I am keeping 4 blue Damselfish, I have filter, one small coral rock, its been 2 weeks and till now they are doing fine, but I don't know how often I should change the water? Till now I haven't change any water. And how many Damselfish is good for 12 gal tank? Can I add some more or I am already overstocking?

Hi there! I have an established fish tank. I had a swordtail and a molly, some gouramis and danios, and a bottom feeder. My fish started dying on me about a week apart, so I suctioned the rocks and half the water in the tank. I also changed the filter. After I let the tank sit a few days I bought 2 opalescent gouramis, 2 angels and a parrot fish. I lost an angel immediately! So I took a water sample in to Petsmart and they told me that my PH was off and that angels like a ph of 7.0. They sold me a product that buffers the water to 7.0 no matter what your PH balance is. I bought a test kit and when I test my own water the alkalinity is always too low and I don't know how to fix that problem! And two weeks later the parrot fish died.

I need help! I would love some info on controlling the alkalinity and also how to keep my fish alive. Thank you in advance for your help!

my guppy just had babies and there in a breeding box now, and have plenty of room, and im feeding them finely crushed flakes and some egg yolk....when can they swim in the big tank again? (alone, not w/ other fish yet)


and does anyone know the sizes and how long it takes for the babies to get big?

I am new to the whole pregnant platy, when can I tell when my female mickeymouse platy is goin to have her babies? She has a dark gravid spot thats about a cm by cm wide. Any help on this or about what to do after the babies are born in my LEE'S 2 WAY BREEDER BOX.

I leave the flourescent light on during the night on my fresh water aquarium, but I'd really like to turn it off during the night so the light doesnt travel into my bedroom. Is this safe?? Does the light NEED to be on during the night?? I dont want to risk killing my fish. Please advise.

I just bought 2 giant danios, how will it work? I have 2 peacock eels, 4 tiger barbs, 4 serpae tetras, 4 platys, 1 molly, 1 swordtail, 2 blackfin sharks, 2 upside down catfish, 1 gold gourami, and 2 giant danios. Are they agressive, will they hurt other fish or eachother, and answers will be greatly appreciated.

ok i already asked a question sort of like this, but i think i worded it wrong.My fish bowl gets cold really fast and its 2 cramp/ small for a heater, no i do not want to upgrade to i nicer fish tank. I've been relying on a lamp for heat, but it creates alge, wat else can i use to keep the bowl warm.

So I take about 40% of the water out of my small aqarium right?
and then do i put the tab water straight in the aquarium then quickely mix the chemicals in?
or do I get new tap water and put it in like a bucket and add the chemicals then i put the water in the aqarium
I think i just did a really bad job of explaining my question but can you just tell me how to change the water in my aqarium?
