I have 2 black moors and they are so active, 24 hrs they keep on digging gravels and searching for food but when I feed them they can't pick the food even food pass from their mouth. I am feeding them goldfish pellets. I also have 2 lionhead goldfish but they eat very well. How can I feed them? When I tell this to the person whom I bough the fish, he told me that black moors can't see like other goldfish. So, it will be difficult for them to eat. But I don't believe him coz black moors are also from same species and also they have bigger eyes than other goldfish?

The fact that their eyes are sticking out of their head makes it harder for them to see what is right in front of them. And since they are also new they may not be used to the type of food that you use so they first have to learn where the food is, whether it is floating on the top or sinking to the bottom.

When I had my black moor I used to hand feed him, he was the only fish in the tank so I wasn't worried about him not getting enough food like you have to worry about but it was fun having the fish eat from my fingers. You can teach all your fish to eat from your fingers, that way to can make sure how much each fish is getting.

1. They have a weaker eyesight, that does not mean they can't see properly. Bulge eyes refract light more thus distort the images projected into the retina.
2. I'm quite sure the fish would "smell" it as it gulps in the water where the food is near.
3. They are mutated from the same species doesn't mean they have the same characteristics. E.g. Both comets and black moors are from the same species but comets swim way faster than black moors. And so on.
