I have been trying to clean my rocks for a really long time but they won't get clean! They still have a bunch of fish poop in them. I can't figure out how to do it and the instructions that came with the tank didnt say anything about cleaning the rocks even though it came with them and tells you how to clean everything else, including the plants! Can you help me get the poop out of the rocks? I'm planning on getting a new fish soon because my other died a few months ago so I want really clean rocks! Thanks!

My brother has a betta, and when the betta's water gets dirty, I tell him to clean it. He says he will, BUT HE NEVER DOES! After a while, I feel bad for the poor fish and I clean the tank. And then my brother yells at me because he says he was going to clean it! HE NEVER DOES!

So, my questions are:

1.) How do I get him to clean his fish tank?
2.) How do I get him to actually appreciate it that I'm helping him out because I'm cleaning the tank?

But, most importantly, HOW DO I GET HIM TO CLEAN THE TANK?????

I have a 60 gal tank with a Fluval 404 canister with a protein skimmer. I have two false perculas, two cleaner shrimp, 5 hermit crabs and one snail, the tank is two months old. I have two fish in quarantine because their new I'm getting ready to put in. How often should I clean the canister, the filter pads and media. I have active carbon in the bottom basket, phosphate media in the middle and biomax in the top. Should I drain the water in the canister and replace with new and clean the housing. I also have a couple soft corals.

We have 3 gold fishes and there in a 55 gallon tank. We'll 2 weeks ago one of them died. So we thought! We have this fish castle in the tank and I found the fish inside it. It looked dead, no doubt about that. So two weeks past, and nobody has cleaned the fish out. Gross I know. lol But one day when I walked past the tank, something caught the corner of my eye. It was the fish that we "thought" was died swimming around the tank. Before, the fish was orange, black and white... and now it's just orange and white. And it hasn't been swimming very well. It just sits in the corner for so long and when it swims it swims kinda sideways. Which it did that from time to time before all this happened. But this all seems pretty strange to me. Could the fish have been stuck? The backside of the castle is completely open though. Would it survive without moving for 2 weeks? or do they need to move in order to live? Or is it some Halloween spirit going on?

I have a 55w bright kit on my 29gal tank, and when I leave to work I put on top another 20w lamp.

That's 75w for 25g (29 less gravel and decor): 3w per gallon.

With that much light, how long will photosynthesis take?

I just recently found a black antique metal frame stand (beautiful) and a poorly taken care of fish tank. It has some chips on the edges, however I have taken the time to completly reseal the enite tankn and buy replacment bulbs (the only ones I could find that would fit) and rewire the hood. It all works now, but the lights are not very bright. The hood doesn't exactly fit the tank. The edges fit flush with thoutermost edge of the tank ( I'll probobly cut it down to make it fit) Here its is. THe lights tha fir the tank, are not very bright nor are they florecent. I turned them on with tank empty (I just resealed this old relic) and they give off a yellow glow. The lights I bought are ulta glows... Does anyone know how I can get a new light fixture for this tank and make it glow like my others? It just seems so dead. Help would be appreciated..

I have a 29gal... currently I have the filter that comes with the kit... a regular power filter 300gph, with the carbon and fiber.....

Soon I will get a 400gph penguin bio-wheel filter and I will probably leave both running.....

Someone told me that with those filters I wont need an air pump in my tank to oxigenate the water.....

Is this true?

I recently bought two orandas on Sunday. I have a Cold water BiOrb with 7 minnows and 2 fantails. I give them flakes and pellets everyday. The two fantails eat both ok. The two orandas on the otherhand seem to not know what food is! lol. 1st they only ate the flakes that sank towards the bottom. now one of them has learnt about the pellets. I'm worried about my other orandas who seems not to be able to eat. It swims around opening and closing its mouth trying to eat the food but it never seems to eat any and hardly never comes for the pellets only for the bubbles and swims back down. and also it looks lethargic, just floating around most of the time. Is there any thing i can do, or just leave it continue feeding normally. Thanks for help.

I have a fancy goldfish for 5 months and he is very healthy. Lately his water gets green every 5 days and I have to cycle the water. Woud anyone know why this happens? It didn't happen when I first got him. I am purposely feeding him a little less thinking it was the food decomposing.

I have a 37 gallon tank with 11 cichlids and 1 pleco. I have recently lost 4 cichlids and the pleco, so I took the water to the fish store to be tested, and they told me the ph was too low, it was 6.6 and it should be around 7.6 at least for african cichlids. It also started growing a really bright green algae really quickly after the last water change. I don't know why the ph has dropped, I've been using the same tap water that I always have. How can I bring the ph back up naturally with out using chemical buffers?

iv had my beta fish for a few months now and this morning i found it lying on the bottom of the bowl. i moved the bowl a little and sparky(the fish) started to dart around the bowl sporadically, and then after a few seconds it just settles on the bottom again. im afraid hes dying. i feed him omega one natural protein formula betta buffet flakes normally about once every one to two days. i feed him two to three flakes. i clean his bowl regularly (about once a week or more if the bowl starts getting dirty). please tell me if theres anything i can do about it.

I would like to have about 3 guppies, 2 platies, 1 dwarf gourami, 1 otocinclus, and about 8 neon tetras. Would this be an ok amount for my 20 gallon tank? If not, what would be better, and if yes, could I add more, and of what kind. I have 2 male guppies and 1 female guppy. What do you guys think?
