I have 4 big goldfish. The largest is 6 inches long and I've noticed that it has tiny red spots all along one side and a few under it's belly.

What are these red dots and what can I do to make them go away?!?!?!

We live in an area that the water is hard, so I would think our pH should be high, but it is under 6.2 (using mid range drops). We keep up with the mantainance, but even after a water change is doesn't come up very much and quickly becomes acidic. We have used 7.0 buffer and pH up, but nothing really helps. Anyone have any suggestions? It is a 55 gallon tank with undergravel and above tank filters. There are 8 fish and two snails in the tank.

I have got a brand new fresh water aquarium. It has been set up 10 days ago by a specialist company. All necessary water cleaning filters, pump, heating, lighting equipment and plants are in place. I am carefully adding the required chemicals every day to prepare the aquarium for the fish that will come. But in the last to days small brownish insects started showing up. In the beginning I spotted two now the number is around 10. They are generally on the stones, on the glass sometimes on the sand. Is this a serious problem? What should I do about it? Thanks for all answers.

My goldfish has recently developed black edges on his fins - when we got him he already had a black streak at the front of his dorsal fin, but now his tail and front fins as well as his rear fin have developed thin black streaks on the edges. Does anyone know what this is? It doesn't seem to have the same symptoms as fin rot and I can't find any ailment with this as a symptom... Please help!

I change the water once a week, feed him everyday, put in the anti-chlorine liquid. I make sure he's alive every day but this didn't seem to be enough for my other fish. 4 fish have died this year. One commited suicide (jumped out while i wasn't home), another i'm guessing didn't have enough oxygen (betta), and the other died while traveling in a plane for 6 hours. The recent fish that died was Umpa's brother, loompa. I'm guessing he didn't have enough oxygen or umpa took it. So now, my guess is that whats missing is oxygen. Umpa has been alive for almost 2 months now without any kind of aeration other than changing the water often. Do you think he will last? It sits at the bottom of the tank most of the time...and goes up to check for food... Should i buy an air stone? (air stone/ air rock/ oxygen rock/ oxygen stone).... how do they work anyway? do i just put the stone in the water and hope it lasts a month...i don't want to hear a machine at night....

I need some help.. I have purchased a juvenile flowerhorn and have kept it in my new 200 litre tank, planted. For 2 days the fish was ok, and then it started rubbing itself in the gravel, increasing the frequency. I supposed it was fluke so gave the water some fluke treatment.

Since yesterday, the fish has stopped rubbing itself on the gravel, but has settled on the bottom of the tank, still upright, but with very less movement. It is still eating allright. I changed (increased) the water temperature to 29 degrees..no more medication until I really get some advise from specialists..
