I need some help from experts. I have purchased a juvenile flowerhorn and have kept it in my new 200 litre tank, planted. For 2 days the fish was ok, and then it started rubbing itself in the gravel, increasing the frequency. I supposed it was fluke so gave the water some fluke treatment. Since yesterday, the fish has stopped rubbing itself on the gravel, but has settled on the bottom of the tank, still upright, but with very less movement. It is still eating allright. I changed the water temperature to 29 degrees..no more medications..

After turning up the temperature, the fish is not rubbing at the gravel anymore, but is now on the surface of the water. It is not gulping for air, but is in the water surface and slightly tilted on its balance, sort of trying to keep its balance..seems like a new symptom..?

About Goldfishes.Where are they found apart from fish tanks and aquariams and shops. How do we know they are pregnant

2006-10-29 23:01:09 · 2 answers · asked by Susheel 1

I have Goldfish, they are about 6 inch long from tip of nose to tip of tail. One I've had for almost a year and a half, Klouse, and the other for about 3 months, Goldie. Well Goldie, ever since we got her acts funny. She will just set there at the bottom of the tank and now he has gone to setting there with her. She swims funny too, sometimes she acts like she can't stay straight up and down, sorta like she can't keep her balance. She will do this for a few hours and then she is fine again. And then Klouse will come along and use his head against her back and help her swim straight. At first we thought she was going to die, but she hasn't yet. I am in the process of cleaning their tank. So they are in a smaller bowl, they are just setting their on the bottom of the tank. Is this normal? Are they ok? Should we be worried at this?

We call them he and she but they are both of the same sex, we think. Since they haven't had babies yet. So we doubt that she is pregnant.

I see there is some tanks which got many stones or whatever they called it and also some anemons. of course there are some holes on the stones that will let small fish hide in them. so,because it is small fish and there are many of them in the tanks,we cant know if there is 1 of them died right? but when they died,it can affect other fishes too.
Also, because it has many stones, and anemons,it will be very hard to get the fish out..
So,what is the best solution?

here is the example pic of the tank:

He is in the aquarium with two other black tertas and four platties. All the other fish are behaving normally and look fine. The tetra in question, however, is staying away from the other fish and is spending time behind some plants at the bottom of the aquarium...before today, the three tetras always stayed together. The red marks on his side are definately new and his eyes appear larger than before. Any ideas?

I just recently got a fantail goldfish and bought a 2.65 gallon Marina Goldfish Starter tank for him. But as I read more and more about goldfish care over the internet the more I'm reading about 10 gallon tanks being most proper for the well being of any goldfish or 2 gallons per inch (goldfish length).

and why do the adults keep eating the babies they are in two 10 gallon tanks

2006-10-29 11:21:07 · 4 answers · asked by Jonathan C 1

Ok, for those of you who say that it's not a good idea cuz people will put junk in the tank... let me stop that answer right here: My room is quiet and very rarely has more than my roommate and I in it.

Now on to the actual question. I love animals and have grown very restless without my dog back home to take care of. And since I live in school-housing, I can't bring in any animals other than fish. So I decided to look around in that area.

I was planning on purchasing a 10 gallon fish tank (AquaTank X Plus- it is Acrylic and comes with 15-watt lighting, a 50-watt heater, and a Power Filter system for $49.99). But I don't know what else I would need. I am willing to do some work (cleaning out the tank once a week would coincide with my weekly cleaning schedule anyway).

How can I stock the tank to be both beautiful and easy to manage at the same time? I should also probably mention that I'm not quite willing to spend too much over $70-80... I am a college student after all!
