I don't think you need to do anything for your zebra. I had one of a group that was huge also. It lived for a couple years and looked like it was going to burst the whole time.

Ann suggested one teaspoon of salt per gallon of water... that is for brackish water fish and not freshwater tropicals. Your danio is a freshwater tropical.

Salt in moderation is good for almost all fish. One tablespoon per 5 gallons is sufficient for freshwater tropicals. It helps them with their immune systems and the slime coating they have on their bodies.

There are some fish, however, that do not tolerate salt and you should research fish before you buy them. Danios will do fine with a little bit of salt.

Remember, salt does not evaporate, so don't add salt unless you actually take water out of your tank as when you are doing your weekly partial (25%) water changes to keep the ammonia levels down.

look it up on the internet, could be constipated, could be the beginnings of dropsy, could be pregnant. It can't hurt to put one teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon of water. That will act as a stress reliever. You also might want to check your water conditions (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite), just in case. Don't medicate until you are sure you know what is wrong. If its fins start sticking out like a pinecone, thats dropsy and you need to isolate the fish and medicate.
