You can put them together but not in a 1 gal. bowl. general rule is 1 inch fish per gal. of water. if those are the only 2 fish you are going to have get a 5 gal. or give them lots of room and get a 10 gal. with filter and gravel.

No. Goldfish are notoriously dirty fish and 1 gallon is far too small. That 1 gallon is BARELY big enough for the Betta to live comfortably, and I really hope you do a weekly water change.
Oh, and by the way.. Bettas aren't as aggressive as some people chalk them up to be. They'll fight other male Bettas, and harass the females, but 99% of the time they don't fight with every fish in a tank. In fact, all 3 of mine are very docile and and one of them swims with some of my gouramis.

YES YES YES YES YES. Go right ahead. Just be prepared to pull one out in the morning. Or, you can buy lots of goldfish and a couple spare bettas (just in case). Invite the friends over for some beers and watch. Then video tape it, and spread it all around the world through venues like youtube. I'd love to see it.

You can put goldfish with betta fish and not worry about fighting. But a one gallon take is kinda small so I wouldn't put too many goldfish (small ones).

Don't mix cold water fish and tropical fish. Goldfish are dirty cold water fish, Bettas are tropical fish. They need different water temperatures and conditions. They won't kill eachother, but the water temperature and lack of space and oxygen will probably kill both of them.

NO. Male bettas are naturally aggressive. The beta will kill the goldfish.
