Well my older brother did (he's an expaert at this), well if you have a tank, keep her in there, ALONE put the other fish in another tank (bigger for them, still big but smaller for her) if they are KOI, do that and then don't put the other fishes back with her and her eggs (or at least the ones that survived, because they do eat their children) until they are a bit bigger, I would say about half an inch or more, some grow faster than others, so I would say keep them all there until at least a majority of them are that size. During this time you MAY be able to keep the male with the female, but ONLY those two alone, if after the eggs come, and they start eating all of them, I would suggest you put them in the other tank until the fish are a half inch or bigger. If they are goldfish, I am pretty sure you can just leave them all alone there with no problem. If they are Guppies they give live birth so I'm pretty sure they won't eat them, plus they aren't big enough to do so, I've heard it is quite exelarating to watch them give birth... If it is a CARNIVIOUS fish, as soon as the male mated with the female, separate them, (which hopefully you did before as well) then when the female gives birth, separate HER as well (I think, i'm not sure though,). Good Luck!
