I was reading somewhere online that you don;t necessarily need gravel in a freshwater tropical aquarium. Well, if a lot of the tropical fish need some sort of plant (plastic or real), rocks, and other such things to swim around and explore. How do you keep the plants to stay down? Or should I just go ahead and stick to my gravel set up?

Why is it people just do not take a day and learn about them first? Instead you get idiots that think you could put tropical with goldfish, not know what brackish water is, and the biggest myth of all that fish only grow to the size of their tank. Fish grow no matter what size the tank is, I am sick of this myth. You put a fish in a small tank and then as it grows the tank is too small so it dies from either stress or a problem with the water such as high ammonia. Why cannot people just take some time and ready a book any more?

OKay I have a 20 gallon tank and I had 2 goldfish to start with so yesterday I bought 4 guppy and a catfish. This morning 2 of my guppys was no where to be seen so I thought well maybe the catfish got them because he was chasing the others off any time they swam to close. SO when I went to get the cat out one of my guppys reappeared but I still can't find the other one? Also the one that came out of hidding went back down to the bottom after less than a min of swimming around?

I have five fish in this ten gallon aquarium tank. The water was looking cloudy so I cleaned the tank for the second time in a two week lapse and in the process of cleaning the tank, one (a female swordfish) died. Then, as I placed in the rest of the aquatic things ( two black big eyed goldfish, a guppy, a shark, and an aquarium frog) within minutes, my shark died. I asume the swordfish died of old age since I hadn't even TOUCHED the tank when it died but why did the other one die?!?! Now that I took all the fish out, they're all still. Now I did everything right. I put in declorinator in washed the rocks and stabalized everything so why is this happening???? PLEASE send answers ASAP becaus I don't want my fish to die! SOS. MAYDAY!!!
