First off your tank is WAY too small for 12 goldfish, at a minimum they need 10 gallons each. Your water will never be clean no matter how many times you change it. Undergravel filters aren't recommend to use with goldfish either since they are so messy. They really need a good power or canister filter that has a 10x turnover rate for the size tank. Is there a way you can give back all but 2 or 3 fish? If you can then it will be so much easier to keep that tank clean. You also shouldn't clean the tank out every 2 months and never clean everything all at once, even though you really should be doing a water change every day since you have so many fish and I'm sure the levels in your tank are unhealthy if not just plain deadly for your fish. But when you have the right amount of fish in the tank you will be able to do weekly water changes of about 20%, which should be done with a gravel vac to get all the crap out. Gravel vacs make a water change so much easier too.

After you have all that straightened out then there are lots of things you can give your fish other then the normal goldfish food. They like veggies especially deshelled peas, blood worms, shrimp and others. Just take a look at the pet store and they have tons of choices for your fish. You can also make them a gel food, I just made a batch last week for my fish. I put tuna, broccoli, pea baby food, a handful of good fish food, kale, some paprika (its good for their color), and a few other things mixed with unflavored gelatin. Just look around online and there are lots of different recipes you can try.

She is absolutly right. Get your space situation under control first. I assume you probably even have the common kind. Since they are fast swimmers and can grow to a foot long at least 20 gallons is best for them.

Take some of your fish back to the store or find a person who has a pond for them.

There are lots of treats you can give your fish, but let me post a website that will help you with everything goldfish related.

you can buy caned shrimp in a pet store or in a normal store in the pet isles and they will eat them because my dad use to feed his fish that all the time for a snack and yea she is defiantly right SPACE is an important thing for all animals and cleanliness also maybe you should get two tanks in stead of only one it will be better well hope you sole your problems
