Can fish be classified as pets?

Yes fish can be classified as a fish. I raise and breed fancy guppies and they love to be touched. I can put my hand in the tank and they will swim to my hand and rub all over it. Fish need love to. And look at all the work you have to put into cleaning the tank every week, feeding, fish get sick to so you have to give them meds when they do, and look at how quite they are.

I love my fish and they are my pets.

Whats the difference between a dog, a cat, a bird or a fish (besides fish live in water)? If all the others can be pets and you feed, clean and otherwise care for them all then why can't a fish be a pet? So yes I say a fish can be a pet.

If you mean in yahoo or in some one's home the answer is YES by a mile. I personaly LOVE fish and want to become a marine-biologist when I grow up, so I can't imagine any one asking this question.

it's an animal, you bought it, you keep in your house, you take care of it, you feed it, etc... how could it be anything but a pet?

unless of course, you live in a place where no pets are allowed. in that instance, apparently fish are not considered pets. i always thought that was pretty stupid.

I consider mine pets, and I have a Scat that actually comes up to the side of the tank and I pretend to pet her nose....she does it every time I stop and pay her any attention.

Sharks for example are not pets!
