How many?

The vetenarian gave my dog a hair cut. In the beginning, I was against it, but I am thankful he did now. The doctor saw what he called body bugs under his skin! I was so afraid for him. My dog has so much hair, and the doctor hadn't noticed them. There were at least forty of them. I researched them online, but couldn't find anything about dogs and body bugs. I saw rare instances of body bugs on humans, that goes along with some syndrome. I need to know what is it, and can it get on humans. I'm really worried, because my dog is always within a close proximity with me. I pratically hug him everyday! No kissing, though! That's just nasty to me!!!!!! His treatment is under control for the next 6 months. Can humans get them? Can they crawl from under the pores? My biggest phobia is maggots, earwigs, and essentially come from under my skin. I go into convulsions seeing or thinking about ear wigs/maggots. I'm really afraid. Links please!!!

This vet was giving away this back of outdated Science diet food for free and said it wouldn't hurt the dog. Is she wrong or right?

First time with a litter of puppies!

I heard so many times that you are not supposed to hand held the puppies, or the mother will not want them no more.

Please help.

HI there, I just wanted to say that I have absolutely LOVED danes for years now and I really want one to share my home with (I'd like to rescue one) So recently I've just been wondering (If you have a dane or are closed to one) What makes you like them and what makes them different from other dogs (besides size, more like temperment) I'd just like to know your opinoin, because lately I havn't really been able to describe how i feel about them, well Thank you for all the answers. :)

Just curious. I have been soaking my dogs food before I give it to them to help prevent bloat from happening. Along with having them wait 15 - 30 minutes quietly in their crate before eating and the same after eating before getting to play again.

Just curious to see if I am the only one or if anyone else does this as well...

I know it's normal for puppies to widdle when they get excited
but when should they stop, my dog still does when he greets us sometimes, and he's nearly 10 months old.

We have a 10 year old shih tzu. About 2 months ago we got really worried when we discovered a large black tumor-like lump on the inside of the right side of his mouth. It would hang out of his mouth and look really disgusting. A week later we got it removed and stitched up. The doctors didn't know what to think about it, and later came to the conclusion that there was a 50% chance that it was cancer.

They said if it was cancer that it would reoccur on his neck.

He's a really healthy dogged. Raised on nothing but healthy dog food, and a scatter bit of our food every now and then. He has just as much energy as he did when he was 4 years old. It's really amazing. He tends to sleep a lot now, but he still has the energy.

We found a smaller version of the lump we removed in the same spot today...

Could it be cancer? Or could it not have been removed good enough?

We're only putting him down when he's in pain, but we can't spend $100s after $100s on these lumps...

It's so hard.

If so, where and how did you do?
Example: I showed in Ft Wayne, IN, and took a 5pt major with a client's ACD puppy the last day and RWD the first 2 days, plus BOB one day with the ACD special.

I want to breed a thoroughbred dog. I want to breed japanese akitas. Are they easy to train, or do they learn bad behavior easily? I love akitas and that is what breeding should be about, love for the animal, but I don't want to raise mean dogs.

So yesterday,
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071106115029AAjZusl&r=w

I asked what would it take to keep you here.
I was surprised because I honestly thought there would be more people into this. I'll wrap up this thread with one final question.

What frustrates you the most? I'm not even going to ask any follow up questions to spark the conversation. I'll just leave it at that.

What frustrates you most about the Dogs Section?

Then we will return to our regularly scheduled DDQs.

Thanks.

I know some people could have a field day with this question. But please answer seriously.
My dog is in her first heat cycle. I called the vet and they will not spay her until she is done bleeding. However, I don't want to take her in to get "fixed" if it is possible that she is pregnant. Her nipples are raised. I'm not sure if they are swolled because she is in heat, or if she could be pregnant.

I've feed her dry dog food and she'll only eat it for a day or two. She's starting to lose weight because I'm trying to refrain from feeding her table food. I've tried wet dog food and that only worked for a day or two.

I hadn't intended on such a long absence...it's been non-stop dog shows since the middle of October! I'm proud to say we had some nice wins along the way, including a 5pt major this past weekend on an ACD puppy in Ft Wayne, IN!!!
But my biggest news is we have a NEW ADDITION!!!! I am proud to introduce "Tori" (short for tornado!), formally known as Stoneridge Against Th' Wind v X-Mark....My good friend with the ACDs agreed to pick her up for me while I was away last week showing dogs. She didn't waste any time putting her to "work" as you can see from the photos! Tori is full of personality and has beautiful angles, movement and topline.
So, thanks, A Gal and Her Dog for asking about me! Makes me feel all loved and stuff! LOL
What do you guys think? Is Tori a cutie or what???
"Whee! I think I can fly!"
