I know some people could have a field day with this question. But please answer seriously.
My dog is in her first heat cycle. I called the vet and they will not spay her until she is done bleeding. However, I don't want to take her in to get "fixed" if it is possible that she is pregnant. Her nipples are raised. I'm not sure if they are swolled because she is in heat, or if she could be pregnant.

The first part of heat you will notice bleeding from the vulva, swelling of the vulva, possible increase in urination and the most noticeable, male dogs hanging around the house. During this period (proestrus), females will not allow the males to breed with them although the males will be very persistent.

The second part or estrus is the time in which the female will allow the male to breed her and this can last anywhere from 4-21 days. A female, most of the time, will allow most any male to breed during this time. As the female starts to go out of heat or enter diestrus, she will be less willing to breed.

Again this stage can last 4-14 days but averages approximately 7 days. The next cycle usually begins about 7 months from the start of the last heat cycle, not the end of that cycle but again this varies from dog to dog. The interval stays the same even if she becomes pregnant.

so it's hard to tell it's a waiting game do you let her out around other dogs. are they neutered

You say that she is IN HEAT, so that is why her nipples are swollen. There is no way to tell at this point whether she is pregnant. Have her fixed as soon as her cycle is over. In the meantime keep her away forom all intact males.

When they come into heat the first time, their nipples will become slightly bigger.. They will never go back to pre - heat size. They won't stay HUGE, but they'll always now be slightly bigger than they were when she was a young pup.. She is probably not pregnant, and isn't for sure if you haven't had her near an intact male.

If she's been with boy canines, or is she's an outdoors sog there are bore possibilities. Take her to vets verify if she's getting heavier Throwing up What to do; in no way throw her or abuse her, it could kill toddler, and that's abuse it rather is one sucky individual and that's stupis poor animal that has that. Be very superb to her, and feed her greater because she'll ahve greater then one mouth to feed. attempt to not %. her up lots, this might injury her and the toddler. determine you're taking her to he docs to make confident that she's not ill and to be waiting whilst the time comes... you're able to not do away with toddler as quickly because it comes or not

how long has she been in heat and is it possible seh was with an intact male??
In the meantime only walk her on a leash so she doesn't get pregnant if she isn't already.
Nipples swell during a heat so it's not a sign she's pregnant

The dog's nipples normally get enlarged when in heat. I'd get her spayed as soon as the vet will do it.

If you have been supervising her properly, you will know if it's possible for her to be pregnant.

Yes, they could be swollen because she is in heat.

Have her spayed regardless. Having a litter at her age is not good for her, like a 12 year old having a baby.
