Is it bleeding? If it is, do you have any styptic powder, like QuickStop? If it is bleeding and won't stop, and you have no styptic powder, dip the nail in cornstarch or if all else fails, flour, then hold pressure on it until it stops bleeding. If it isn't bleeding, there's not much more you can do for her.

You really do need to get to the vet. The same thing happened to my doggie. However, let me warn you that it is not going to be cheap. I thought I would take my pup to the vet, pay for an office visit, get the nail clipped, and be on my way. However, because the nail was ripped so far down, the toenail had to be REMOVED! This means my poor little one had to go under for a little while for the removal and then wear a little cast for a few days to prevent her licking the wound and infection. So, you're going to pay for an office visit, anesthesia, the removal, and meds to take home (for us $250). Good luck and I hope you little one feels better.

soak his paw in warm epsom salted water for about 10 mins.check to make sure there is nothing else stuck in his paw.dry it and compress if it is still bleeding.when it stops apply some antibiotic cream and u could try to wrap a gauze on it but it won't stay or he will tug it off. give him a asperin 1 per 40 lbs of your dogs weight. do this afew times through the day and just make sure it is clean. he will heal in a few days.if not take him in and have it looked after.if u have no epsom salts just wash his paw with soap and water and rinse it good.

Have your dad hold the dog and clean the toe off with some hydrogen peroxide and bandage it until you can get him to a vet. This happened to my dog and it was very painful for him.

If it's bleeding alot than you need to take the dog to a vet asap. Dog's have major arteries in their nails so it's kind of just like you slit your wrist!

Does your dad have a car? You should go see a vet as soon as you can! Your dog is probably in a lot of pain.

If he is bleeding use some cornstarch or styptic pencil or powder (if you have some) to stop the bleeding. And apply pressure.

That's normal. That's how dogs wear down their toe nails. Especially if he's bouncy and loves to run. But if he's in major pain, call a veterinarian and ask for yourself. I'm sure they'll give you instructions on how to help your furry friend out.
