I HAVE 4 PUPPIES AND THERE AKC REGISTERED

Our beautiful 7yr old border collie Jaz has always had a lovely healthy coat. He'd never had fleas until recently when we minded a puppy for a few weeks. It took about a month to get rid of the fleas, then shortly afterwards Jaz's hair all started falling out and his skin became red and raw in places where he had been scratching. I treated him with homeopathic sulphur which was quite effective and within two weeks he was well on the way to recovery. About 2 weeks ago he went through the same thing again. He still has no fleas so I am thinking he may have become allergic to long grasses on our rural property. However the hom sulphur remedy is working very slowly this time and he is still scratching madly.
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for treatment - alternative or otherwise. I'm a pensioner and can't really afford a vet unless I really have to. Any advice would be appreciated!

I am getting a puppy on Friday. He will be 8 1/2 weeks old when I get him. He will have already been given one of vaccinations before he comes. But I need to know at what ages does he need to keep getting his vaccinations? Please list all ages he needs to get his shots. Thanks.

I just adopted a beagle girl, and she has an American name. I would like to re-name her giving her a more Hispanic name, since we are Puertorrican, but only if it's appropriate to re-name her.

My dog is a pomeranian cross and she is adorable! she is five years old and just recently the vet has informed us that she has luxating patellas in her two back legs. no other vets had noticed this beforehand (idiots!!) newayz i have never really noticed her having any pain in her back legs, except we have always noticed that she doesnt like to run up stairs and sometimes has trouble jumped up heights and when she runs she kind of hops around which is one of the reasons why we love her.
now the vet said we should get surgery but the problem is it costs $1,000 per leg which is a huge amount of money! is it even necessary to get it done?
the last thing i want is for my dog to grow older and get bad arthritis so she cant walk and its too late for surgery =(
advice pleaso

I have just found my 12 week old puppy chewing my sons hearing aid! He's eaten most of the silicone ear mould (I expect I'll see it in his poo!), chewed the rubber tubing to death & fortunatly ignored the actual digital bit. I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

My husband and I adopted an APBT puppy last week. He's 6 months old, completely adorable and a real sweetheart. I've always loved the breed despite their (undeserved) negative reputation, and grew up with one who was a wonderful dog. I know APBTs were bred for fighting and have an innate dog aggression, but I know people who have raised several with other dogs without incident, so I naively thought we'd have no problems raising him with our two GSDs. Apparently I was wrong. He's snapped at and/or attacked our female several times, once I unforunately got in the middle of it and received a fairly nasty bite from the little guy. Our female is now spending all her time hiding under the bed in fear. I love the puppy already and it would break my heart to give him back to the rescue, but would that be the best course of action? I've read that dog aggression gets worse around a year old and I don't know if I will be able to trust him with our other two dogs. Any advice is appreciated.

My 11 year old American Bulldog had major surgery 2 weeks ago to remove a football sized tumor attached to his spleen. He has recovered well except for the fact that his back legs are now paralyzed. Does anyone know what my rights are as a dog owner? I love our vet and he never said that this was going to be a concern. He has never apologized for crippling my dog. He doesn't even act like it's his fault, but more like we have a whole new issue to deal with now. We paid $1000 for this surgery. Help?

today i had to run to the store, instead of putting my puppy in the bathroom where she would have no room to move, i just put her in my bedroom and made sure there was nothing that she could chew up on the floor and put her toys in there. shes about to be 5 months old, she KNOWS right from wrong, but i guess sometimes she just acts on impulses like we do. she managed to get onto my bed (i have one of those tall ones, its probably about 4 feet off the ground.) and get onto my nightstand and dresser and tear everything off of it and tear it up. she also somehow managed to OPEN a dresser drawer and get my clothes out of it. she tore my tv wire out of the plug, she didnt chew the wire, but thats not the point. i couldnt believe she did that. i was gone for 10 minutes at the most. she didnt potty at all, which is good, but to me, i felt like this wasnt one of the times to just tell her she was a bad girl, i spanked her ONCE and told her she was a bad girl, (details coming ... )

My miniature australian shepard fell going down the stairs. She absolutley screams in pain if she even tries to move it and has bit me. It feels like a knot in her leg. I would be shocked if they said it wasn't broken. Anyway, I can't get to a vet until early tomorrow morning. Any suggestions?

Hello,

I am getting a female Silky Terrier in about a week and am not sure what to name her, so I figured I would open it to a vote.

I am looking for something funny and unique - nothing like "puppy", or "roxy" or anything ordinary.

Let's see who has the best ideas!

I have been crate training my puppy since she was 7 weeks old- she is now 3 1/2 months. She does alright in the crate, but she wakes up at 5 am and will whine until 7 (I refuse to get up with her before 7). I let her out about every 5 hours at night to go out to the bathroom. When she starts to whine is when I put her back in her crate after letting her out at 5am go to outside, and I'm sure it's because she's hungry. However, I will not feed her until at least 7. I feed her at 7pm, so shouldn't she be fine? I'm feeding her the correct amount and giving her food puzzles between meals. How can I correct the whining in the crate without making it a bad place to be? I was thinking spraying her with a water bottle, but I feel that this would make the crate a negative environment. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can't handle the whining every morning like this.

I just got back from the doggy park and this male dog kept humping my male dog. This went on for about 1 hr, off and on. There were other dogs in the park (at least 25), but that same humper dog kept going to my dog. Just wondering why this kept happening. My dog was getting a bit annoyed and fighting back, but....he dealth with the annoying horny dog. I thought it was funny!

My 7 month yellow labrador is currently (the last time I checked which was last week) 51 pounds and is approximatly 22 inches. Is that too big? I recently stopped giving puppy food and switched over to adult food.

My dog is about 70-80 percent dehydrated, I am giving it some pedalyite ( I'm not sure this is how you spell it) I think it might have been poisoned by my neighbor ( they don't like us very much). My dog is extremly dehydrated, it has diareaha, not moving much... kinda stiff, just really sickly, and oh yeah it has blood shot eyes. Please tell me if these are signs of a dog got poisoned or it's just terribly sick. I'm afraid she is going to die

When I take my puppy out for a walk, she is very excited to go. We get outside and she starts pulling like crazy. I do the stopping thing everytime she pulls, she doesn't seem to be getting that. When she finally does start walking, or I run with her, she'll just freeze. Every few steps she'll stop, then bolt forward running, so I run with her, then she stops. She just sits there and then bolts. I can't get her to walk properly. I don't mind running with her if that's what gets her tired, but not if she keeps stopping constantly and won't move. I feel like I have lost my alpha position. I think maybe I should start again and walk her indoors to retrain her. I am using a no-pull harness which she definitely pulls on. Will a halter work better? Any suggestions? I can't take it anymore.
