Your dog is not the first or the last to eat a tampon. (especially if they are.. not new.) Just keep your garbage can under the bathroom sink. Prevent this from happening in the future. One tampon shouldn't harm your dog. Keep an eye on your dog to make sure it is still having bowel movements without issue. I remember, as a child, our dog getting into my sister's bathroom and making a buffet out of her garbage can. We did call the vet. They said... "Dogs will be dogs."

Because the nature of tampons is to expand i would personally give the emergency vet a call and see if they suggest waiting to see if it passes or if they think you should come in for an x-ray.

it COULD easily cause a blockage which can be deadly.

Well my dog has eaten a tampon before and was perfectly fine. She never had any symptoms of being sick from eating it. It probably just depends on the dog.

Most likely your dog didn't not eat it whole. Keep a close eye on him and watch for any signs like constipation/vomiting. But your dog will most likely pass it in a day or so.

Contact your local vet hospital for advice. Many will give it over the phone.

Call your vet , not play on the computer ! They may want to make the animal vomit before it gets to the intestines & causes a blockage. Which could mean surgery or death if you "just wait to see if it comes out"

Depending on if he ate it whole or not, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
If he ate it whole, you might want to call your vet in the morning.
