Yes it is dog cat food is very bad for dogs not only for their body but their teeth as well. My dogs try to eat the cat food and my cats try to eat the dog food. My dogs are afraid to go in the basement and of course the cats love the basement so I feed the cats in the basement and the dogs I feed them their suggested amounts and what ever they don't eat I pick up right away. I know for sure my dog Leita thinks that she is a cat, and my youngest cat thinks she is a dog strange but true. Good luck and if I can be of any more help feel free to e-mail me!!!!!

Try seperating them while they eat. The opposite food might be bad for your dog and cat. I have never had a cat, but my Jack Russell will eat anything that isn't his dog food.

Sure is - not enough protein for cats in dog food and too much in cat food for dogs.

Simple solution - feed the cats separately (they can get high up to get it, the dogs can't).

A little food won't hurt them, but if they are only eating the other's food then its not good. Try to feed them in different areas where they can't get to the other's food.

(I had asked my vet about this because my puppy was always more interested in the cat's food than his.)

If your talking about cookies, I was always told that there is no problem if a cat eats dog food, but there is something called ash in cat food that might make a dog sick. but sometimes my dog grabs a bite in the cat bowl and vice versa, and they are all totally healthy.

the only issue is that dog food is made with less fat because they don't burn as much as cats do. cat food is high in fat. they are made for each species for a reason. cats need that fat, dogs don't. i feed mine at different times so they eat what they are supposed to.

the higher protein in the cat food can lead to liver and other digestive problems in the dog if done regularly over a period of time. the cat won't be getting it's proper nutrients either. better to keep them separated.

Yes. Too much protein for the dog, and not enough for the cat.
They make cat food and dog food for a reason.
