So yesterday,
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071106115029AAjZusl&r=w
I asked what would it take to keep you here.
I was surprised because I honestly thought there would be more people into this. I'll wrap up this thread with one final question.
What frustrates you the most? I'm not even going to ask any follow up questions to spark the conversation. I'll just leave it at that.
What frustrates you most about the Dogs Section?
Then we will return to our regularly scheduled DDQs.
Thanks.

RE: same questions over and over
Do you think people don't know how to search the site for questions?
And to be honest - Do you guys search first before posting?
I'll admit it, I don't. But I seriously doubt anyone asks my off the wall questions. And I want NEW answers, I want everyone to participate and interact... make sense?

Ladyabbie - I'm not trying to be mean - someone will report you for having your website in your answer. You'll get a violation for no reason sweetie. I'm telling you here in this question where we are friendly. =)

Guys- I"m actually disappointed that someone - or a bunch of someones reported that WOW person. If we are going to complain about reporting questions and answers - We should be able to take it here. I wish no one had done that. Seriously. It was ok that whoever it was said what they did. That's sort of the point of these questions - to be able to say anything.
If someone is rude in the DDQ, just leave it there - it speaks for itself and it's ok.

Rudeness and attacking the people who come here with a question is what bothers me. Some people just come with a simple question about something silly. SO WHAT? If it bothers others they can ignore it. There is no good reason to attack some person. It's just wrong to do that.
Sometimes kids or even inexperienced young adults ask a stupid question about food, breeding, vet care or dozens of other things. But you can answer in a way that isn't mean. If you can't then don't answer.
There are dogs in this world that are never fed and are eating from garbage cans. If someone is feeding Ole Roy, well at least they are feeding. It could be worse. Don't attack them, just say nicely, "there are better foods". As long as the dog is housed, fed and has decent medical care, they are doing better than some others do.
Nobody should be made to feel inferior or superior. We don't have to all agree. But we shouldn't be mean on purpose either. Lots of times people will type something in one way that other people take in another way. That is the downfall of computer message boards. You can't read expression or tone of voice. But some rudeness is very apparent, and shouldn't happen.

Well, there are a few things that totally drive me up the wall in this section.
First off, it seems like most do not use YA as it was intended to be used. I always thought you were supposed to search for past questions on the topic you are inquiring about. If you can't find anything that is relevant, then you ask the question. There is no reason why the same questions should be asked every day.
Secondly, the people who e-mail you to rant and call you names. What person in their right mind would actually take the time out of their day to do that?
Thirdly, the absolute ignorance and immaturity of about 95% of the people on this site. They ask the questions, but they do not want real answers. They will only hear what they want to hear.
Lastly, people who answer that have NO idea what they are talking about. In some cases, it doesn't make much of a difference. But when people are giving bad advice regarding the health of a dog, it is a serious problem.
ADDED: I only sometimes look up previous questions before I post one, but that is because I am explaining a specific scenerio. The "What should I name my dog" or "how long until my dog has puppies", etc. are not situation specific... they are general questions and if people would just type it into a search engine, they would get answers more quickly than they would here.

I'd say I find the Abusive Answers to some obviously sincere questions really annoys me! As does the, you spelt realise or several other words, wrong, and no real answer to the question.
I get frustrated by the My dog is sick what should I do? Questions
Or people who say feeding 'human food' is wrong when the question is actually asking about feeding meat! What do they think dogs have eaten for centuries! Pet food is a very recent invention!
I'm also amused when you answer a fun question and get a thumbs down! I think a few light-hearted questions are great and I like to know what and why people choose to call their dogs what they do. It doesn't always have to be so serious does it?
Other-wise I love the dog section, the Cat section and also the Fish section.......... probably because I'm nuts about all three and have been keeping them for over 50 years!

What frustrates me most is spending the time to think about and type out a well-reasoned answer only to have it reported for some reason (since Yahoo doesn't TELL you what rule you've violated you cannot even really guess what it was you said that provoked the removal). I've read the community guidelines.. multiple times... and it is my sincere belief that there is no HUMAN guiding this ship.
Edit: I also get frustrated with leading (lying?) questions like this one http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AklBf9lxkLb9U3Qqa5_2tvjty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071107091645AAzGIf0&show=7#profile-info-3UtPeK1caa where it seems the whole motivation was to prove how wrong the people who answer are ... once we get the rest of the story.

1) Irresponsible breeding, but ignorant enough to deny that they are irresponsible.
2) Caesar dog food commercial dog
3) My dog is sick, but I cannot afford to go vet, help!
4) How to house train my puppy (no crate please).
5) The worst: giving thumb down for honest answer or reporting those who give such kind of answers.
I'm sure more than what I mention above. I just hope people do use the search bar above to look for questions before asking.

I think the worst thing is the reporting and deletion of acounts for no reason other than you don't like someone.
Other than that, I think people should be free to ask any sort of question they want, even if the question is stupid. That's why they need to ask it! Although I do admit that I don't like giving the same answer over and over. I wonder, don't these people look up previous questions? I mean, when you type in a question, previous questions that are similar pop up. So why doesn't anybody use this feature??

- People claiming to be vets.
- People that don't want to learn, they just want validation that what they are doing wrong is okay. Even if 100 people disagree and 1 person agrees, that 1 person agreeing is what they wanted to see.
- People that recommend crap dog food (like Beneful) and swear they're the healthiest on the market.
- People that want to breed their dog because it's cute, or because it's registered so it must be breeding quality. Even worst: people who want to breed their mutt-a-doodle with their neighbor's mutt-a-doodle. And are unwilling to listen to reason because they have already made up their mind and it's set in stone.
- People that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. (Examples: "Switching your dog's food will kill it!" and "Dog breeds developed as dogs roamed and bred naturally in different areas of the world.")
- People that don't want to take their pet to the vet when it is sick or injured.
EDIT:
RE: "Do you think people don't know how to search the site for questions?
And to be honest - Do you guys search first before posting?
I'll admit it, I don't. But I seriously doubt anyone asks my off the wall questions. And I want NEW answers, I want everyone to participate and interact... make sense?"
It depends on the question I want to ask. If it's a general knowledge question, I sometimes search for it. I typically don't ask questions that are text-book information (I could research it myself if that's the case), they are usually more of opinion questions or personal experience questions.
Sometimes I ask questions not because I want an answer, but because I want other people to read the answers. It's against the rules to post questions that aren't questions, so I ask a question and let the answerers work their magic. (Example: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Avob.104g6BOnNlExnpt9Nbty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071029134027AAtowge )
Other times, I want to see what the people on here that I trust say for an opinion, so I ask a fresh question.

Oh...geez...where do I start?! Just about everything everyone has mentioned here.....but I think one thing that really bugs me is when people ask questions about information they could obtain by looking up on the Internet and get answers themselves. There is so much out there on breeds of dogs...why do people come on here and ask..."what kind of dog should I get?" Why don't they just do some research...I mean, all they have to do is google dogs and they could find all sorts of things...then they could narrow the breeds down by searching the breed itself. It is laziness? Is it ignorance? I don't know...but I don't understand why people can't be resourceful with all that's out there right at their fingertips.

-The rampant thumbs down on reasonable answers. I don't know if it would help but people might be less likely to give thumbs down indescrminately if they why they were rating the answer the way they were.
-Breeding questions
-stupid people who shouldn't have dogs
-trolls
-medical questions when they should be asking their vet however people who have visited their vet but are possiblely looking for alternitives such as natural remedies are a different story.
