Anytime our dog comes and sits with us on the couch and lays on his back, he sneezes. He will only sneeze once a night. Should I worry or has this happened to anyone else?

I often hear people saying that other players in the NFL have been convicted of things "much worse" than Vick, like DUI/vehicular manslaughter, selling drugs and other such things but they still play. I feel that these people are missing the malicious, blatant CRUELTY of what Mike Vick has done. I feel that they fail to see the element of intent that is present when you kill a dog on purpose or pit them in horrible fights againsteach other, an element that is not there when someone is selling drugs or gets in a drunken accident and kills somebody. True, a death from a DUI is terrible but it is an accident. You didn't intentionally kill the person. You didn't sit back and delight in their suffering or hope to make money off of it. That, to me, is the difference.
What do you think? Is there a difference? Do you think Mike Vick should be allowed to play in the NFL again?

My cat died in september and i want a dog. I am 13 and am willing to help out alot. I'm even ok with poop scooping. We are looking for a dog that is okay outside, we have a big backyard, not too small and not too big. We would not let it in the house too often just when it was a puppy. Should we get a a dog or no? If so what kind?

I have a short hair female Chihuahua, who gave birth to two puppies, that we are going to keep as our own, 3 months ago. This was her first and last litter{SHE IS NOW SPAYED], and before she gave birth, she had an extremely short coat. All of a sudden now, she has developed a thicker, beautiful coat, that is twice to three times as thick as it was before, and I love it. Does this have something to do with hormones? Just wondering why she would develop such a thick coat after giving birth! Has this happened to anyone else's dog?

My 5 year old Siberian Husky, Sydney, and 1 year old Papillon, Louie are extremely light eaters. We feed Sydney on a schedule now, but when we used to leave her food out, she would only eat once a day anyway- same with Louie. Neither eats more than he or she needs.

I've read that dogs don't tend to eat as much when they're fed raw diets because they benefit from the nutrition so much more than they do on commercial food. However, since my dogs eat so little in the first place, would they actually eat even less? I want them to be in the best of health, so I'll do whatever is necessary for them to be happy and healthy.

My female Pitbull is giving birth right now. (And yes! I am a reputable breeder,...Dogs come from excellent lines) The first one came at about 40 min. ago. Since then she has given birth to four more...So a total of five in the last 45 min. Her past 2 litters were both large litters at 13 and 14. So my question is....How many pups do you think she will have in all? First Person to guess the right number will get 10 pts. !

I will keep you posted periodically.....

My dog is about 3 to 4 years old a chihuahua mix and she came in from using the restroom outside limping. She had her back right leg up and her paw was clenched like if there was something in there. She was still very excited and wimpering to us. Me, my mom and my boyfriend felt her whole leg and pad, we can strech out her leg and everything and she even was laying on her leg that was hurt so everything seems to be fine and we can't figure out whats wrong with it. I'm thinkin maybe she pulled a muscle or somethin. Please give me some advice. Do i need to take her to the vet or just keep her off the leg?

We don't have fenced yard and live in a town where there are no ordinances on how many cat's a person can have. They run free and also poop freely in our yard and extended acreage around our house.

We have a corresponding field past our back yard, and cats love to poop in the mole dirt mounds. It is also an area we prefer our dogs (one 7 year old black lab and small 5 month old dachshund) to do their duty.

However, I'm noticing more and more that our puppy like to eat the cat poop and rarely eats any of her food in the house (besides small scrapes from the table).

I can't keep my eye on her full time while she is outside. But I'm wondering if there is some way or product that will deter her from eating more poop, and possibly getting really sick.

Thank you for all your help. I'd had to lose her (she's the ONLY other female in this house!!)

why?

I am looking for a new food because what I am currently feeding him he scratches his belly and chews on his leg. He doesn't have fleas so its got to be a allergy to something.

I am going to be starting my huskies on a partial raw diet, and will be making it myself. I am buying my meat grinder Friday, and I already have the recipe I will start with. I am just looking for any tips or advice from those of you already making your own. What is your dog's favorite, things you add in, etc.. Thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions !

How often do you walk your dog and play with your dog in an average day? At night, do you play with your dog a lot in the house? I am curious to see how much time people on average spend with their dog. I'm looking forward to your responses.

This can be the best gift IF the giving is well orchestrated. It can be the worst gift, though, if the receiver is un-prepared. Here's a partial check list of things that need to be provided (as Christmas gifts) as well.

1) Credit voucher to vet for well puppy care and elective surgeries as needed (spay/neuter, ear crop, any special eye lid surgery) 600 - 1500.

2) Cash Card for any emergency veterinary care, at or away from home (cuts, broken bones, bloat, zipper surgery) 2000.

3) Credit voucher for Puppy Kindergarten (50) and one for Novice Level Obedience (95).

4) Vari Kennel (90), Ex-Pen (90), and Kennel Run (500).

5) Bag of premium puppy food AND a credit voucher to cover the first year feed expense (150 - 400 ... depending on size of dog).

Stocking Stuffers:
Food and water bowls, training supplies, toys, bed, book: The Art of Raising a Puppy.

Question: How to organize these 'gifts' to make sure that the whole gift is given and not just the puppy?
