I often hear people saying that other players in the NFL have been convicted of things "much worse" than Vick, like DUI/vehicular manslaughter, selling drugs and other such things but they still play. I feel that these people are missing the malicious, blatant CRUELTY of what Mike Vick has done. I feel that they fail to see the element of intent that is present when you kill a dog on purpose or pit them in horrible fights againsteach other, an element that is not there when someone is selling drugs or gets in a drunken accident and kills somebody. True, a death from a DUI is terrible but it is an accident. You didn't intentionally kill the person. You didn't sit back and delight in their suffering or hope to make money off of it. That, to me, is the difference.
What do you think? Is there a difference? Do you think Mike Vick should be allowed to play in the NFL again?

If it's so boring, why bother to read it? I don't find it boring. I find it despicable. This man makes millions of dollars and THIS is what he chooses to do?

A creature that poops and eats. Isn't that what YOU are? Isn't that what we ALL are? What a stupid thing to say. And by the way, LOVE your grammar and your broken English. I also love the way people hate Americans. Makes me proud to be one. Obviously it must be great if so many are jealous. =:0)

If DUI-related death was murder, it would be charged as murder. The missing ingredient is INTENT. If you are texting ,taking pills or drinking, you are a careless a.s.s.hole who should go to jail but you really feel it is the same sa somebody who goes into somebody's house with a bat and beats them until they are dead? No. And by the way, the justice system is FINALLY realizing what the mental health world has known for yeras: that disregard or pleasure in the suffering of living things is a sign of a serious disturbance and often a precursor to crimes against people.

i personally think they should put him in prison and let the guards take bets on fights between him and the other convicts (preferably big, strong ones).

Well, when you go out and sell drugs you do it so you can make money, there is intent behind that!!
When you get drunk and kill someone, there was intent there too, the intent to drink!!
What sucks about all this is the fact that we are more concerned about this guy and his dogs then we are about humans.
Publicity, any publicity at his level is good, look at Britney, he will stay in the limelight and even if he does not play again, I am sure he will write a book and make more money then he had before and on and on. This has gotten really old. How much time do you think he will get when Mike Tyson gets a day for DUI and drug possession?

The people who go out and sell or take drugs are choosing to personally put themselves in those situations (although in many, many cases the victims are totally innocent). The animals are also innocent victims who had no choice as to what their situation would be. Not only am I opposed to fighting pitts, I am outraged that people breed animals that are purposefully aggressive and dangerous.
The people that emulate men like Vick and his friends are basically making loaded guns that are living and present in regular neighborhoods where innocent people can get hurt or killed by one.. one never knows when these dogs are going to be triggered and then attack someones innocent pet or child.
Basically crime and cruelty beget more crime and cruelty. They are teaching people to have no empathy for other beings and their discomfort, pain and death .. that the twisted need for the adrenaline rush from the fight is more important than the pain the dogs suffer and the ultimate end of its life when it loses... and that end is never in a humane way either. Believe me, that attitude spills out into all other areas of their life.
I am outraged because I care about people and I care about dogs. And no, I don't think he should be allowed back in the NFL, but he will have his team of lawyers working on somehow coming back night and day until he is too old or too out of shape. (think Mike Tyson... why the H*** is that man still around?)

OK, here I go.....
Vick is an abuser of animals. That is bad, but not as bad as abusing a human. When a person drinks, takes drugs, even prescription ones that alter senses, or uses their text messaging skills and drives, IT IS NOT AN ACCIDENT!!!! It is premeditated MURDER! How would you feel if it was your mom or kid killed by someone "just a little tipsy" driving home after happy hour? When a human alters their senses and does so KNOWING they have to drive a vehicle, that is PREMEDITATED. So, I have to disagree and say that what Vick did, while utterly appalling and disgusting, is not even in the ballpark with drug dealing, drunk driving, etc. If we locked up everyone that was "cruel" to animals, there wuld be a HUGE kill-off of pets suddenly needing homes due to owner incarceration. EX: My neighbors keep their dogs (shep mixes) outside year round. According to the majority of YA users in "dogs" that is horrible cruel torture of the worst form. So, my neighbor would get locked up and the poor neglected (lived outside for 11 yrs no and healthier and happier than any dogs I know) critters would be euthanized because along with the millions of other suddenly homeless dogs there aren't enough shelters to care for them all.

Vick did intend to gain profit from the abuse of animals, that is why he will get time. If the NFL allows him in, there wouldn't be any team willing to hire im. He's toast unless he wants to play arena ball. Good ridance to him and may he die from a dog attack by a pack of stray Pitbulls!!!

Your ? is an old one, but by the responses so far can't we see that there is a major confusion as to how the criminal justice system was designed to PROTECT & SERVE HUMANS? I am a kennel owner and trainer and love dogs more than most people. BUT dogs are not capable of the thought processes and abiliteis and emotions like humans are. To put them on an equal level as a human actually does more psychological damage to the dog than anything. ALL dog trainers will agree...there is a GREAT deal of separation between the 2 species, and the sooner people realize that, the better their dogs "world" will become.

To answer the askers late edit in regards to my response..YES! I do believe the laws need changed and so would ANY HUMAN who lost a loved one to a DUI "accident". Since so many politicians seem to live to "tie one on" before heading home we probably have little chance of changing the laws. How can there not be intent when a person consumes a mind altering substane KNOIWING they drove to the damn bar, how the hell else are they going to get home? That has INTENT written all over it, Unless of course your last name is "Kennedy" and your family is in politics.

No. it's NOT boring at all. And believe me, if YOU were directly involved with trying to clean up the mess the Michael Vicks of the world bring upon wonderful breeds like pit bulls, rottweilers, GSDs, Dobermans etc. You would NOT be yawning like it's all so yesterday.

All your attitudes show is that the knee-jerk-reactionists who bully their BSL through the lawmakers have a bunch of sheep they can sheer. Shame on you.

sorry but i feel any pro-player at any level where there are young children watching them and making them as idol once that pro-player is caught doing drugs, DUI, anything against the law that is it no more pro-player. we don't need men or women as idol for our children and they see these people get away or a slap on the wrist and then kids will think hey he got away with that now i can.

I agree. If he is able to return to the NFL, his salary should go to the Humane Society or the ASPCA. Seriously...what a jerk. I love how he already turned himself into jail- he probably thinks it will score him "good behavior" points.
