Make a lemon tonic then spray the lemon tonic on the dogs' skin, it repels fleas and doesn't dry out their skin, and doesn't smell bad, make the lemon tonic by the gallon and add 1/2 oz of tea tree oil to 1 gallon of the lemon tonic, do this because diluted tea tree oil is a natural anti-septic and if i'm seeing fleas the dogs have already been bit.
Lemon Skin Tonic:
bring 1 pint of water to a boil and remove from heat add 1 thinly sliced lemon allow to steep overnight or all day strain liquid
The liquid can be put into a spray bottle, squeeze bottle or just a container. Apply liberally to the coat of the dog and rub in so that the skin is wet.
Lemons are very good for the skin and contain limonene which is an effective insect repellent. The limonene actually dissolves fleas' waxy coating causing dehydration and death of the flea.

Flea Baths are full of too much chemicals for a puppy DON'T DO IT! A puppy is small, it's fur is thin, just fill the bathtub or sink and hold the dog in with only it's head sticking out.. pretty soon you will see some drowning fleas scamper to the head for safety, you can then comb them off with a flea comb, or whatever. Use a mild dishsoap, or baby shampoo, you will be able to see all the fleas once the pup is wet, just pick em off, this will provide tons of relief for your pup, then when you can, go to a vet and get a flea treatment suitable for puppies. Good Luck!

8 WEEKS and up is usually okay with some flea products, but not any for a 3 weeks old. You can use Johnson's and Johnson's baby regular shampoo. If the pup has fleas you don't want to wait, the pup could be come sick, from blood loss. Damp the pup, shampoo and wait 5 mins. this will only kill whats on the pup not was is in the home, make sure to rinse well. Also make sure the pup doesn't get a chill, keep warm, until completely dry. Call you vet for recommendations on the home environment. This shampoo is safest for ears, eyes, and skin.

You don't. There's no point putting the puppies through this, because flea shampoos don't work, even if you could find one that was supposed so be safe for use in pups this young.
There's only one treatment that actually works and is safe for puppies this young - the spray version of Frontline. It can be used on puppies from 8 weeks of age, so get some from your vets.
I'm sure people on here are going to tell you to use Dawn dish soap. Again - just don't bother, get something that's actually going to work.

NO NO NO!!!
Puppies under 8 weeks of age SHOULD NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER be bathed with ANY flea shampoos or dips PERIOD!!!!!
A bath is OK, as long as you keep them indoors and towel dry them IMMEDIATELY. You can use blue Dawn dish soap. It surprisingly works well on elimination of fleas. However, if you place the puppies back into an area with fleas, tey will be immediately reinfested. Treat momma dog with whatever your vet reccommends. Frontline has been doing research and they concluded it is safe for young pups. You can call Merial (the maker) and talk to a live human Vet tech about using it on your puppies

I know this sounds weird, but Palmolive dishsoap works for underage puppies and kittens (under 8 weeks) This is exactly what a vet would chrage you $15/ per kitten to wash them with if you took them in. Just make sure you wrap them and put them next to a heated blanket or something similar so their body temps don;t drop too low after bathing. Otherwise, botanicals such as FleaFlea and Doc Akermans are also safe on puppies.
ADDED WTFever- Not sure what vet you work at, but *botanical* flea shampoos ARE safe! I have also worked as a vet tech, and we always used Palmolive for fleas and Dawn for grease, etc. Doc Akermans and Flea Flea are 2 great botanicals.

I would def. ask a vet about the safety of bathing a 3week old pup. We use just regular ivory soap on our pup- it is really gentle and it kills fleas which is great! Good luck!

Its ok to give your pup a flee bath. Use warm water and have a towel handy. Any kind is good. But to be sure make sure if there is a size limit on it. I have a 3 month old pup. pure breed chihwawa pup and i have given him a flee bath. Just follow the instructions and he or she will be fine just make sure you keep the pup warm after the bath!
