My 9 yr. old shiba inu is acting really weird lately, she ahs always been protective of her treats(we have always been fine with that) but we got mice a couple days ago, so we put her food in the main room so she didnt go in the room with traps, all she does it sit in the room and stare at it, she never used to do that with their food in the basement, she was never even down there, and when any1 goes up to it she follows them and sometimes tries to bite, and today i kept telling her no biting and she was trying to act all sweet, and then whenever i moved my hand over a little she tried to attack it, like she didnt know it was the hand that was petting her a little while ago, also when my brother was walking she ful on tried to attack then again after that, so is she just protective over the food or is she going crazy, and what does dog blindness look like? her eyes look kind of like misty or are shiba's eyes supposed to be jet blakc, she seems to see our hands move from far away

When I was gone earlier today, my dogs got into the computer room where I keep my parakeet and ate 3 of her honey seed sticks. I was just wondering if there's any danger for them eating the seeds.

He is 8 weeks old and I'll be picking him up tomorrow. I'd like to break him in immediately. Can you provide tips for house training him and provide a list of doggy supplies to have on-hand?

I have a 1 year old male, neutered pit bull. He has bad traits, he is aggressive and his littermates also were as a cpl. of my friends owned them and they also got rid of them. I love the dog, he is treated like family. He sleeps in bed with us, I but him specialty store expensive food. He always has rawhides and other chew toys, and we play with him. We have a 7 mo. old dughter, and another on the way. Today me & the baby were lieing on the bed, I was feeding her a bottle, the dog came up and stood over the baby, and I yelled get down. He must have jumped on the baby's leg or something when he jumped off, she started sceaming. So I went to put the dog in his cage, and he went in there willingly and bit me when I put my hand in there, left a tooth hole in my thumb, and tried snapping at me again. I bled, but it's not severe. I think I should have him put down, he bit me, he has snapped at my partner before, and I don;t want to risk him biting the babys. I am really sad. What to do?

i have this little apricot toy poodle and he is driving me crazy. he is not fixed because there sare no female dogs around and we have heard that it doesnt calm them down. he constantly barks at any one ecspecially men who come to our house that doesnt come often. we are afraid he may bite someone. then he cries at night if i go to the bathroom or anywhere besides my own bedroom. he cant foolow me because he sleeps in a cage which brings me to my final concern. we cant trust him to not pee on the floor at night or day. its not just the floor, its beds long curtains, toys pillows and anything else he can position himself around to lift his leg. this is really serious because we have had him for three years now with little to no progress. if something doesnt happen sone we will have to get rid of him and i really like him. that would be the worst

My dog was spayed in the summer and popped a stitch they said it will heal on its own. Theres a small "bump" under her skin which I can play with a little left to right now. My vet says its normal.

what do you think?
does your dog have this?

I have a Border Collie / Lab mix dog. Fleas have been bad all summer, but all my dogs had flea issues. My one girl has scratched her ears so bad that there's no hair left, and the legs...joint..elbow type region is just the same. What is this and what can i do? I've sprayed and powdered all the dogs, and my little beagle mix has no problems like the big dogs. This isn't "Mange" , is it? How do i deal with that if so? Last year my shepard had what the vet called "Flea Born Dermatitus" - basically alergic reactions to fleas, but this is different, and i don't have the money this time for a vet visit. Any ideas? No guesses please.

I want to see how people answer this. This is for people that breed or think that they want to. When you are breeding a male and a female, how are you doing it? Are you just putting them together and seeing what happens?, ect...

We have a few outside dogs including two old beagles. They have been together since they were about 3 months old. They are male and female (fixed) and are like an old married couple, grump and ggrrr at each other, but play together and sleep side by side in the same house. In years past for Winter my husband has insisted we put a rug or blanket over their door, to prevent wind from blowing right in their house and cedar bedding in the house. I have no problem with the rug over the doorway, but the cedar chips turn out to be just gross. What they don't flip out into the pen ends up kind of crusted to the house floor and in the house's corners and requires a very good scrubbing in the Spring and guess who does the scrubbing? Not my husband. I just wondered if the chips really do any good? or are they even good for the dogs?

My dog passed a few days ago. We had to put her to sleep. I'm still in shock of what happened. 12 years with her.
That day i cried so much.
She usually slept at the end of my bed but the last night i had with her she slept next to me. Maybe she knew that she was going to Heaven. I do believe that animals go to Heaven, why not?
I'm glad shes out of her misery, i cant imagine how much pain she was in. She had an infection in her uterus, and the vet said she might not make it through surgery, because of her age.
To go through surgery and for her not making it would be more devestating. Putting her to sleep was the best way i think.
She wasnt alone when she passed, the whole family was there.
I dont feel guilty at all, Im happy shes free, doesnt have to go through anymore pain. I just miss her. I pray to God, if only i can see her. If she can tell me that shes happy.

So today I opened my mailbox and found a letter from animal services labeled *Violation Notice*(I'm on Florida). It states that Im in Failure to Vaccinate dogs against rabies($50) and Failure to obtain required license tag for Intact dog($150!) + 2 subcharges of 20 dollars.

My question is do i really have to pay the money? Anything I can do to drop the fine? Im willing to pay for the rabies and even the License tag, but not for the fines. I never was told about the License tag, and I DID vaccinate the dog but they told me that it apparently was not for rabies. I would had gladly taken the dig to get vaccinated and a License tag if they had actually at least give me a call on my phone and tell me I needed further actions.

PS: Sorry if I make mistakes, English is not my native langauge.

i have a little yorkie. he is 3 years old and i am having some problems with his behavior. everytime someone yells at me he threatens to attack by growling and jumping on them. he hasnt gotten to the point of biting yet. he follows me around everywhere even to the bathroom and if i dont let him into the bathroom while i shower he will just wait at the door and take a nap until i come out. certain things he does are cute but some are just rude. like for example when i get home from work i knock at the door ( i dont have a key yet) he goes crazy. not when others knock only when i do. he wants to attack everyone and runs around from one side of the house to the door telling everyone im home. he gets really angry at everyone in te house when i come in. i dont understand why he does that. why does me being gone all day make him so mad at my mom and my sister? its so strange.
