People buying puppies, do you research the breed before you buy? Look at this ad that was in the paper just today!
"AMERICAN BLUE PIT BULL Puppies, AKC reg, 4 Blue & 4 Fawn Blue, bloodline is watch dog, $450 M; $600 F. Ready now! " They have AKC registered Pit Bull pups!! Come on folks!

I just let my dog in for awhile, and he's eating now, and the weird thing is -- he will stop eating every once in awhile and just stare at me .. he's outside pottying now, but it was like 60 seconds and as he stared he gave a like upset or untrustworthy look, and then his head would go lower as he stared at me. I never looked away, but then he did. what's that mean? what should I have did/do?

I am starting agility with my dog and we've done it for a few months. I have a few questions though.

1. Can a non-AKC dog still compete in anything?
2. Where can I buy really cheep equiptment/ can I make anything besides the jumps?
3. What types of competition can junior handlers compete in?
4. Is there any water what so ever involved?

I mean really, what's the deal? Most people want a cheap or free puppy anyway, why add any extras to it?

A puppy is a puppy. If you want it trained, you train it! If you want it micro-chipped, you chip it! It is your dog, and you get to do what you want, right?

I have a labradoodle (11 months old) that I can't keep free of roundworms. He's had 3 treatment rounds, I've had his backside shaved, and I clean the yard almost daily to keep it free of infected feces. But they still come back a few weeks after treatment. Is there a natural herb that can be added to his diet to keep him roundworm free? He's been to the vet's twice for the worms, has been treated three times (multiple treatments to each round of treatment). I've done everything the vet has suggested, yet they still come back. Anyone have a solution?

OK, if you have a litter of pups, are you reponsible enough to work with those pups when it comes to basic obedience? Like being on a lead (getting them used to one, a kennel lead) or teaching them not to jump on everyone as well?

Are people aware that feeding a bunch of "people" food, especially turkey and ham can lead to a life threatening condition in their dogs???????
Please use caution when feeding your dogs leftovers! (cats too). Vets see a great increase in this condition following Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!!!!!!!
Remember...your dog does not know it is a holiday and is NOT missing out!!!!!

I took my dog for a simple eyelid procedure. I received a phone call that afternoon from the vet saying everything went fine but he would like to keep the dog overnight for monitoring so the dog would not paw stitches. The vet informed me the next morning that the dog had hung itself while trying to get out of its holding area. Collar on the top of the fence. In other words, the dog was never watched and died a horriffic death.

Why every year despite campaigns to stop it, do dummys buy dogs for Christmas presents.
The pain, suffering and cruelty they cause as a result of their thoughtlessness is a disgrace.

has anyone ever had to give their dog Methylprednisolone (a steriod) , if so how much and why? My vet prescribed a low dose for my dog for allergic dermatitis and after reading up on it, I'm scared to death of the medication. It has bad side effects. Wonder why he just didnt give antiobotics like normal.

My dog hit her paw on something, although I'm not sure what. Yesterday it was fine and just had a cut on the joint where the paw and leg meet. I guess it would be our elbow?

But today she didn't put pressure on it and it's swollen. Should I wait another day to see if it goes down or should I take her to an emergency vet? The regular vets aren't open tomorrow because of Thanksgiving.

Oh and we can touch it and everything and it doesn't seem to hurt her. Like I said, I'm only concerned that's it's swollen and she's not putting weight on it. Even though she was fine when it happened and all day yesterday.

I came home today to find one of my 2 dogs all bloody. The neighbor to my back has 2 pittbulls, and 1 got through the fence to my yard and attacked my Boxer. My German Shepherd defended my dog and nearly ripped the pitt's ear off. The neighbor apparantly had to jump in my yard and spray the dogs off with hoses to get them to quit. My dog is having to have surgery on some infected puncture wounds, and the bill is $725. Is it the neighbor's responsibility to pay the bill for my dog? The board that the dog got through was on his side of the fence, if that makes a difference. Thank you.
