I have a 3 year old Queensland that I adopted from the SPCA almost a year ago. He had to be neutered before we were able to take him home.
My brother has a Chihuahua mix that has not been altered. She was in the same fence with him while she was "in heat" because we didn't expect him to be able to impregnate her. He did "try" several times, but we never saw them "tied" (although it is possible since we weren't watching them all the time).
She ended up pregnant somehow, we assumed it was from our unaltered chihuahua male. But the puppies look a lot like Queenslands. Here are a few pictures of them.

Is it possible that my Queensland could be the father?

My feamle I have since March 2004 and I brought my new male pup home in 2005 once they got used to each other my female would let my male climb on her just like her own pup would and he even tried to get milk from her but I pulled him away because she was not a mom. But she would always let him climb on her and they would play.

Here are pictures of them 2 when my male was a pup.

This woman lives in my neighbourhood and I come across her often in our municipal dog park. She has a female Shetland that she bread once and all the puppies died. A month ago she got her own Shetland male who's about 12 weeks old now and she wants to breed her female again next year with that male. Her female is a sweet dog but she is too small, too delicate and her nose too narrow to be a good representation of the breed. Each time she talks to me I feel the urge of telling her how she doesn't know what she is doing in so many department....specially when she was bringing along the 9 week old male to the dog park with her!

I do NOT regret buying our Mini-Dachshund pup from a 'Hobby Breeder' who is very responsible. She is a Vet Tech, so has the vet at hand if she needs one and has all the pups vaccinated, dewormed and checked out before sending them on to their new homes. They are also raised indoors with people! We weren't able/didn't want to pay for a AKC champ pup-no reason just for a pet (but, her pups are AKC registerable).

We did (many years ago) buy from a BYB and got lucky! Our Golden rocks (she was 1 out of 17 pups from 2 bred sisters)! She's in perfect health and we just didn't know about BYB back then.

So, I know everyones thoughts on BYB's, but what about Hobby Breeders? This one certainly doesn't do it for the money-she does it because she enjoys it and to be able to give people affordable, quality pets. I've seen her house, her pets, etc. She's not a puppymill or the like.

Just wondering what ya'll think :)

I have a 130 lb dog and want to give him buffered aspirin for lameness. He may have slept wrong or he may be starting to develop some arthritis from age. I know it is safe to give buffered aspirin but am wondering how much to give. One a day? Two? I am using regular strength. Thanks.

My puppy is 4 months old. He is supposed to be a purebred dog, but I noticed that he has webbed toes. I know that water dogs such as labs have web toes, but I didn't think that pitbull did. Pitbulls don't even like the water. Does anyone know the right answer?

I purchased a vizsla puppy with papers in May 2006 for my father. The breeder I got him from was in Houston, and is no longer reachable with the numbers and address that I had. I have had him back for 6 months now, do to a serious medical condition my father has been placed in hospice and can no longer care for him. I have tried to find the papers but have had no luck and my father can not help with this due to his illness. But "Rusty" my male is the most beautiful Vizsla, he has perfect muscle mass, coat color and condition and has a clean bill of health from the vet, including negative results for hip dysplasia, he has had skin scrapes to check for sebaceous adenitis, and that was also negative.
So my husband and I are really interested in breeding him even though we don't have his papers and don't remember the breedline name for the AKC to search for it. So I am looking for someone in Texas that is interested in our boy, all that we are asking is for is the pick of the litter.

My mom lost her poodle about a year and 7 months ago.
Our family is used to having small dogs like yorkies and toy poodles and my moms poodle died at 16 years old she treated that dog so good she wouldn't trade that little dog "Sadie" for the world and she was so devastated the morning when Sadie passed quietly in her sleep!
She didn't talk to anyone for over 9 months and now she is back to herself and now my sister and I have been putting deposits on at a toy black and white tuxedo puppy and my sister asked would she reject another puppy and she said she would love one but she doesn't know where to get a wonderful toy poodle!
We have a plan to put the puppy under the tree during Christmas eve night and we need a good imitation
Santa Clause note!
But all other ideas are welcome! thanks!

Does anyone know if there have been any studies about using whole carcass rats rather then say rabbit as a meat source?
I was just curious as I was browsing around looking for snake food and wondered if anyone used rat carcass for raw feeding either cats or dogs.. Please include any links you have as I can't find anything on the subject..
Thanks
To anyone who's anti-raw feeding..
I've already researched raw feeding and after comparing it to the crud that goes into commercial diets I think the small risk of my pet getting something like E. coli to be much less terrible then the kidney disease and urinary tract illnesses caused by commercial foods.. I personally eat plenty of raw meats without having ever caught any kind of illness from it.. I'd rather have my pet perhaps on rare occasion get a bit of diarrhea rather then die from mold toxins or melamine..

I bought a puppy from a well known austrailan cattle dog breeder. The pup was 5 weeks so i decided to pick it up in a week. The breeder called 2 days later and said the mother got sick and tested positive for parvo. She died. The mother was seperated from the puppies, except at night. The puppies have to be quarantined for 2 weeks. The pups did have their first shot. Do you think these pups will make it?

She seems to have a hard time with dry food, probably due to age and worn down teeth. I give her dry food with a little water added to soften the food and make it easier for her to eat. Is there anything else I can give her, like boiled meat or something of that nature to make her coat soft and shiny again?

my dog grew large and now lives in the backyard and has grown rather rowdy from the quiet cute dog he used to be. whenever i do have to punish my dog for the things he does (barking all the time, chewing up things), i lock him up in his cage in the garage and leave him alone, and i scold him ALOT and i get really mad. sometimes i throw my shoe near him but close enough not to him, and he gets so frightened and looks helpless. i know i need to punish him but the thing is, he's not getting it! so i have to punish him over and over again and it doesnt get anywhere and it gets harder for me to look at him cringed up and helpless and pathetic! i dont know what to do! how do i punish him so he understands and i dont have to be so mean to him?
