Maybe he has a blader problem. I think you should ask your vet. Or maybe he's just a late bloomer. haha my golden retriever is 2 years old and he started peeing like a big boy when he was like 1 1/2. There great dogs aren't they??

Happy Thanksgiving

If he is nuetered it prob is that, also if he was neutered at a young age b4 he starts to lift his leg and "mark" objects...also maybe he doent have enuff items (trees hydrants etc) to lift for...tho i have seen many males lift their leg on a peice of grass...lolIf u mean in a submissive way such as when scared or about to be patted, it could just be his personality and without going into mass detail, a behavoriist could help u. If u mean he has to urinate frequently like a puppy, it could be a UTI, and a vet check would be required for some antibiotics...hope this helps.BTW....if he is just not cocking his leg this is no concern... :)

This is what happens to dogs who are neutered too early before they have learned to 'lift their leg'.

I always advise my puppy owners to wait until the dog has reached maturity before they have them neutered. Too many people are neutering their puppies far too young these days in my opinion. Let them have their puppyhood first. 9/12 months is plenty young enough to have them castrated if you do not intend to use them for stud.

I am going to guess he was neutered as a puppy....probably a little younger than he should have been...and never developed the secondary characteristics of a male animal.

There is nothing wrong with him. A dog usually begins to lift his leg at between 4 and 6 months. If he is neutered before he learns to lift, he will always squat. However, if he is neutered AFTER he learns to lift, he will always lift.

I wouldn't panic. Squatting is tidier. He won't be peeing on your furniture, friends or anything else. At some point he may have become uncomfortable standing on three legs or he has a buddy that showed him how to squat only.

And this is a problem? I would rather have a male dog that didn't want to spray every thing!
Some dogs just don't lift their leg. So what?

hmm.. that doesnt sound too good. its either a traing problem, or he has a bladder problem! if he has a bladder problem, then take him to the vets to get the right medication!
hope that helped!
