During the recall I managed to find Solid Gold, and now feed that to my cats. Solid Gold for dogs is 'Hunden Flocken' and this food is manufactured on a small scale and is also a top quality food. Canned food for dogs I'd recommend Evanger's because it's just meat, no fillers. Avoderm's a good quality food, too, but if your dogs are kind of overweight it's not for them. Innova's good, too. Some dry dogfoods cotain corn for carb content. Rice is a safe and natural 'filler' that dogs don't have allergy problems with. Cheaper (pedigree, market foods,) dry foods list wheat and/or corn, and by-products, as the first (main) ingredients. Feeding your dogs good quality food means they are getting more usable nutrients, and there will be less poop. There are so many dogs being treated with prednisone repeatedly for ear infections and severe itching, when all they really need is a top quality dog food. Corn and wheat cause allergies in a lot of dogs.

Ordinarily, I don't recommend food other than good brands of dog food for dogs. but over the years I have found that giving a dog "Jack Mackerel" does wonders for a dog's coat. It makes it thicker and gives it a soft glistening coat. The nutrients in the Mackerel - fish oils, etc, are good for the dog. Feeding mackerel every third day will still allow it to get the benefits of the dry dog food you are feeding it. You can also mix a lesser amount of the mackerel with the dry food every day with the same results.
Jack Mackerel can be found in canned food section close to the canned salmon. It is much cheaper than the salmon.
This works! Good Luck.

have her teeth checked by a vet, a dull ragged coat is a sign of poor health. A good cleaning of her teeth at the vet would go along way in improving her coat, I just had my 6 yr dogs teeth pulled, man were they bad... I just got her and in the month since that her coat is soft and plush instead of dull and rough

Put bacon grease over her food. She needs more oil in her body. If she will let you brush her, use hair tonic for men.Get the tonic, not the cream. Just put it on your hands and rub it into her coat. Then you can brush her and distribute the oils. You don't have to use a lot. Just do it about every week.I put this on my hair and it works.

You could try putting fish oil on her food to eat. It helps the skin to hydrate and ultimately helps the coat become softer and shinier. You may also want to get her some vitamins to help with this as well. They both do wonders to help her out!
