giving a golden lab a bath?

Question

how often would be ok to bathe him what shampoo should i use also is the shampoo i use on myself ok

he just had a bath about 3 weeks ago is there such a thing as to many baths he already smeells also what can i do about bad breath

hes about 10 years old and i live in Florida

I agree with Michael on the bathing. And human shampoo tends to be harsh on a dog's skin, so you don't want to use that.

You mentioned he has bad breath. That's a different problem altogether. There are chew toys he can use that would 'brush' his teeth. You can look into getting him a different kind of food: Some foods are just plain stinky. And if that doesn't work, set up a dental appointment with the vet for him.

No you shouldn't use human shampoo it's bad on there skin/oils. You can just buy dog shampoo at a local store that has pet supplies for like 3 dollars. Also you could probably give him a bath as need, I usually give mine one once a month, unless he starts to smell! hope i helped =] vote best

In the winter once a month is fine, maybe even can stretch it to every 2 months..In warmer weather, i would bathe the lab every month with flea and tic shampoo. Major pet stores carry this, and it;s usually under $7-8..
Unless a puppy, then dont bathe as regular as above stated.

well i don't think thats usually the best thing to do because we have different hair types than dogs. i mean once or twice is ok but not to many times because it will dry their skin out and their hair will start to fall out! so once or twice is ok but not to many times! make sure to buy dog shampoo!

Please use a high quality shampoo from a pet/grooming store or a vet. No people shampoo except baby shampoo.
