Are people aware that feeding a bunch of "people" food, especially turkey and ham can lead to a life threatening condition in their dogs???????
Please use caution when feeding your dogs leftovers! (cats too). Vets see a great increase in this condition following Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!!!!!!!
Remember...your dog does not know it is a holiday and is NOT missing out!!!!!

HOLIDAY LEFTOVERS FOR PETS: SHOULD YOU OR SHOULDN’T YOU?
Happy day after Thanksgiving! We hope you had a fantastic feast. Now for the best part—leftovers! But before you dig in and share with your pet, please take a few minutes to read the transcript of our recent live chat with the ASPCA’s Dana Farbman, CVT, Senior Manager, Professional Communications, and Dr. Eric Dunayer, Veterinary Toxicologist. These two experts gave fantastic advice on how to prevent your furry ones from consuming potentially hazardous “goodies” during the holidays, including help for kitties who’ve got a thing for stuffing:

I learned this lesson the hard way, but it was at a July 4th picnic. Kids fed my dog hot dogs, hamburgers, whole baked potatoes ... and being a very good Labrador, my dog ate it all.

She vomited and had diarrhea so badly that she need intravenous fluids. She nearly died, and on top of that, it cost me $4000 in emergency care.

Everyone knows the rule now - no people food ever. Period. It's just easier and safer, and she doesn't know what she's missing.

Have a safe and happy holiday season, everyone!

You have an inflamed pancreas and you know that the pancreas produces enzymes to digest your food, and it also makes insulin. Don't you? Well, what I suggest is to when this debacle of a dinner is over to eat fruit only, for a while and that should help your pancreatitis. Don't forget anything cooked requires your pancreas's enzymes which will inflame it further. Eat fruit and raw vegetables, they have their own enzymes and they will allow the inflamation to calm down. Please see a natural specialist as well.

After we eat I feel guilty sitting back stuffed knowing I'm only going to give the dogs a few nibbles of turkey, lol.
Happy Thanksgiving :)

We actually went out to the holistic dog food store and got doggie "Thanksgiving dinners". They have tripe, venison, rabbit, duck, pheasant, green beans, sweet potatoes, etc. Yummmm!!!

Good warning. People food is often bad for pets for several reasons.

Wishing you and your four legged crew a happy holiday season.

Very good question to post.

Most people don't know that Rawhides ALSO cause Pancreatitis.... I won't give my labs those anymore either.

Happy T Day!

I totally agree. They don't know it's holiday. We need to give them stability during holiday season. I leave mine in the yard so they don't get anything from guests. Thanks for the reminding!
