I posted a question yesterday asking about what was the best way to go about finding a home for my puppies. The reasons are too complicated tp explain but they have to go. They are both 9 months old (one is a Yorkie boy and the other is a Peke Poo girl) and I just can't stop crying thinking about how they are going to miss me and wonder where I am at. I mean, I am already telling people about them and all (and I am trying to keep them together) but every time I look at their little faces I cant help but to feel incredibly bad because I am the only mommy they have known for 7 months now.
Does anyone know or have an idea about how animals cope with going into a new home? I am seriously anxious and highly depressed about this. Thanks.

I have a 2 pound chihuahua puppy who always seems to be hungry. We give him a half cup of purina puppy chow rationed out in 3 portions each day. However, that never seems to be enough becasue he is always licking his dish and begging for food. I dont want to overfeed him but I also want to make sure that I am not underfeeding him.

My terrier has food allergies. I'm currently feeding him Hills perscription diet z/d ultra. The cost is $24 for an 8lb bag. I was wondering if there is another food that I can feed him that is cheaper. Not only is it expensive but its hard to find. Please help.

I live in a second story apt. building with my pup and I was wondering at what age is it safe for a puppy to use the stairs? My pup is about 4 months old (lab/collie/chow ? mix ~20lbs) -I have always carried her down the single flight of stairs but recently she is wanting to go her self and she is getting a bit heavier. I know that walking up/down stairs can damage the puppy's muscles or growth, but what age do you think is OK for her to do so by herself without damaging anything????

Thanks:)

I have a husky called Beren and he often sings strange songs in a different language and fooling around in the forest in my backyard, whispering to the trees. when he walk, his feet make no sound. The other day he brought in a girl husky, and when I asked him who it was, he said "Luthien." This doesn't seem normal to me. I always thought dogs spoke english and didn't spend much time in forests any more... Beren also has an unusually greenish flame in his eyes... ancient, and yet so young...

Several months ago I moved to a small BC town. The population here is over 1/2 native and there are reserve dogs roaming everywhere. Some are friendly and well cared for while others are almost wild. Recently a pack of 14 dogs including a purebred blue heeler and golden retriever where shot and killed because they were starving and were chasing bighorn sheep. Anyway, there has been a mutt hanging around our property since we moved in. I saw her breed with another mutt on Sept 25. I remember because it was my son's b-day party. That would put her at 63 days today. But I'm sure she probably bred before that and probably 24-7 for her whole heat. She is definitly VERY pregnant. She can hardly get up and she has been outside in below freezing weather and she only has short hair. I convinced my hubby to let her in but we have two dogs already. The closest vet is 2hrs away and the road is bad now. What is the chance of some pups being too big to deliver since she was bred multiple times?

I can't afford to take her to the vet due to recently paying$700 to have one of her toes removed because of a non cancerous tumor. I have been removing the discharge every couple of days or so, but am afraid I may make it worse. I can't take her to the vet until after the holidays so any ideas as to what it may be and what I can do to help her at home would be very helpful.FYI she is a 9 year old golden retiever and I noticed the problem a few weeks ago.
thanx for any ideas

my dads works at The Great American Bagel and they make dog bones too by hardening flavored [apple, banana, carrot] bones. A breeder comes weekly there to buy a couple dozen bones. He has 24 dogs. Thats crazy who would spend over 200 bucks for bones weekly?

She is a female 6 month old shih-tzu/chihuahua and all of a sudden she has started barking at men she doesnt know. She is fine around my boyfriend ( her dad) and she is fine around my dads (her grandpas). She is fine with other women that she has never met but she goes crazy around men. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old, and she has never been abused or anything. Also if you know how stop her from going crazy around men please tell me. Thanks Stephanie

the guy absolutely will not sit still. not only that, but he has black nails and i really dont want to cut him again. Let's see, i think it's been 7-8 months since the vet trimmed them last. He makes quite a bit of noise when he walks on the wood too. Can i file them? How much might a groomer charge just to trim nails, i wonder. Can i just leave them and hope they wear down themselves- he gets out quite a bit? thanks in advance

Where should I leave my dogs when I have to run errands like Grocery shopping, etc? Right now I have been keeping them in my large master bathroom, but every time I close the door, they cry. I have been doing this for a week & they are still crying every time.

I know they cry the whole time because when I'm home, I leave them in their room & do house cleaning & I hear them crying the whole time. At night, I leave them in there & they cry the whole night.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to train my dogs to go to their bed on their own when I have to leave the house for an hour or two?

What other places can I leave them? Should I crate them?

How many people do you think buy a cute little puppy at the holidays and then dumps this cute little puppy several months later when they can not handle or deal with it anymore? A few years ago I took back 2 pups from the same litter around the same time, when they were about 9 months old. They were not Christmas purchases, but both girls were not obedience trained at all! In my breed that is a big deal with the size of a 9 month old. I tell people not to buy a pup of any breed for a present for someone else!!

We have a puppy who's been licking around our mouths and we just found out she has worms. Our vet said that you can catch the worms from her, but when I called Telecare they said that it can't be transmitted from dog to human. I've looked online and found a few different ones that either agreed with the vet or with Telecare. I don't know what to believe and I'm worried, especially for my niece who is a baby, because the vet said that that age is more suseptible to it. I'm worried for the rest of us as well. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

My female is a GSD. I know some small breeds will go back to back. I have heard to wait 2 years and some say just miss a heat. Does anyone have info. I even have opposing info from different vets.

Thanks so much,

My 13 month old liver and white ESS hasn't had a season yet, she has begun beating work this season and amongst most of the other beaters apparently late seasons seem to be quite common amongst ESS with some experiencing 16months upto 2years. Anyway the thing with Molly is she is very slim, although she is a beautiful dog and in proportion she ways around 14kg when she should way around 18kg for her size. She is on a high protien working dogs complete meal and enjoys her food however, when she has had enough she simply stops eating often leaving most of her food (she is presented the same amount of food as my 10mth old ESS who eats all her meal and is a perfect weight with plenty of muscle mass). Sorry about the long question, I'm just completely stumped!! I'm not really concerned about her weight as the vet and ourselves have concluded she's just naturally very slim with a high metabolism. I just wondered if the lack of season and skinniness could be related? Thanks everyone X

I will be using it tonight, for the first time. I was just wondering! It says that it is non-irritating. Has anyone ever had a problem, with the product stinging their dogs ears, when put in? What kind of results, did you get with your dogs ears, when you used it, and do you recommend it?

He's still a very young pup, so age is not a factor.

This is so cool! I just saw a commercial for Progressive Insurance, and they now offer Pet Injury Insurance for accidents. It covers vet bills, etc. if you dog is injured in an accident. hat do you guys think? Has anyone else heard about this, and if so do you know more details? (I'm really interested but I don't want to call and be harrassed about buying a policy.)
