We're getting a Great Dane puppy and just wanted to know if anybody had any unique names that would fit that big of a dog? Like Samson or something.

Names that are usually associated with something large
Goliath, Atlas, Leviathan, Titan, Zeus, Hercules, Jupiter, King, Monarch, Behemoth, Juggernaut, etc. (Just about any name of one of the ancient gods out of Greek, Roman, or Nordic myth would work)
Although lots of folk also like to give diminuitive names to large animals... like Tiny.

My 8month old female Great Dane is named Velma... off of Scooby Doo
I like Duke, Scooby, Scrappy, Harlyn and Bindi

I have a Dane Puppy, we named him Apollo- it means Destroyer, they say Danes are the "Apollo of all dogs"
Other good Danes names we thought about was:
- Dozer - "A Big Thing"
- Kade- "Sturdy"
- Daemyn - "Loyal"
- Othello - "prosperous"

Beren. He'll long be remembered in dog-song... also, he may bring home a beautiful Great Dane female called "Luthien Tinuviel." Don't be alarmed when/if this happens.

My friend had one and she called it "Beast." People thought it was because he was mean but it wasn't. My friend's young daughter always liked Maggie and the Ferocious Beast and Beauty and the Beast so he was named after those. And the dog lived up to it's name in that respect -- he was a great dog, especially with kids.

My Dane was Maximilian. When being screamed MAX
He loved to ride in the back of our sports car TR3, wearing his sunglasses and cap. Thought he was Hollywood

My two favorite Great Dane's that come to our hospital are Apollo and Thor :)
