This is my friend's dog, I am taking care of her until she finds a place to rent with a backyard, she told me that she "might" be pregnant, but she does not know for sure...the thing is that yesterday I saw she was really down and green stuff was coming out from her "tush"... what is it? it does not smell, it is just a very dark green liquid like blood...and today I found a big spot like blood/water on the patio floor...what is wrong with her? I touched her belly last night and I did not feel anything ( puppies moving ) her tummy was really hard, she does not look happy...I called my friend and NO ANSWER!
please tell me what is wrong with her dog!!
thank you...

its happened to her twice before. her muscles tense up then she starts shaking, then starts to roll on her side partially, shes not able to move when its happening. they both lasted for about 2 minutes. both times my parents were not home and the clinics are closed. we are taking her to a vet asap.
so can someone help me find a way to prevent this and what it is.

I understand why you all are against people breeding, especially people who are uneducated about the process, and their breed. However, I notice most people who respond to such things are quite rude, and impolite. While yes, the overpopulation is a big issue, there's many dogs in pounds. But they're not just mutts, there's pure breeds in there too. Hell, I've adopted a 4 year old husky from the pound, who had his papers and everything. So professional breeders who breed, be it for money, or themselves, or any reason are just as much to blame as backyard breeders. The only difference is is professional breeders are filling our pounds with Pure breeds, instead of mixed breeds.

Instead of calling someone the scum of the earth, or insulting them, try politely suggesting that they check the pound for something they'd want, before breeding, or buying from a breeder. instead of insulting them, or being rude.

I tell him just to feed her a smaller meal, healthy treats, instead of the non healthy ones he gets. AND mainly that he shouldn't give her the left overs of his dinner. He gives her fat from the meat and if he has left over food he will give it to her. Basically she has two meals.

Last night he was feeding her the fat off his meat and I couldn't watch it was making me sick thinking that she is so fat and he's adding to it.

Should I keep saying things to him (Not nagging) but just reminding him that he is reducing her life by feeding her excessively?? Or just think "it's not my dog, why bother"

Do you have any good points I can put across to him!?

Last week during a routine exam, my dog tested postive for ehrlichia canis. The doctor says he's in the subclinical phase and prescribed 150 mg daily dosage of doxycycline and another screening in a month. I was really surprised since I use Advantix religiously and he hasn't been acting like he was ill. I've done some reading online but I'm not sure what to expect in the future. The vet didn't seem too alarmed but kinda had a "wait and see" attitude. Does he have a good chance of getting rid of this or is he prone to declining health or worsening condition in the future?

I have a six month old pug Mable who just got spayed yesterday, I'm kind of having a problem with her incision, which I took her back to the vet and he assured me was normal. The problem I had was she was having blood seepage from the incision, the vet told me that because she's very active (extremely hyper) that seepage is bound to happen. They told me to not let her play for 14 days, so I have her in the laundry room, I can't put her in the crate because she will really harm herself, she spazzes in crates. However, when she wants out or gets excited in there she stand on the door and whine, I yell at her and tell her to stop but she still continues to do it, I checked her out a few minutes ago and there was more seepage. I was wondering if there is any kind of sedative I could give her, because its going to be impossible to keep her like this for 14 days, she's so extremely hyper, I just don't know what to do, if anyone could help that would be great.

My 17lb Minature Schnauzer ate about 10 Welsh Cookies last night. We didn't find the empty bag until a few hours ago. Since Welsh Cookies have currants, and currants are supposed to be bad for dogs (kidney failure), I was wondering if I should be worried. It was most likely less than 1 cup of currants in the whole dozen and he only ate 10 cookies. He seems fine and isn't urinating any more or less than usual. a

Am I getting worried about nothing?

Would someone please explain why the "adoption fee" for Yorkshire terriers are so high?

There are some local rescues who have fees that are 175 to 700 dollars!

I support and am willing to pay a reasonable adoption fee but 700$? I could buy a purebred whatever puppy for that I'm sure. Heck in this market you could buy a decent HORSE for that much.

I'd love to adopt a yorkie or other small dog one day, but it may end up being cheaper to go to a breeder. Yikes. I never though t I would say or think that.

My family cocker spaniel was put down today. He was 15 and basically had a poor quality of life for about the last year or two. The decison was hard, and although I think it was best, I am struggling with making that decision. Any shared experiences or advice would be helpful
