Yeah, flea shampoos are not good stuff. They don't work. Stay well away from all store-bought stuff, it's a waste of time and money.

Get a proper treatment from a vet, i.e Frontline, Advantage or Revolution. These are spot-ons that go on the skin on the back of the neck. They then spread throughout the entire skin and keep the animal flea free for at least a month. You should probably also pick up a spray for your house while you're there; this is where most of the fleas are living.

Start by wetting down his face and ears with a wet cloth..working from the nose, to the back of the head (fleas will run away from the water). Once you have wet the head well, wet the body and shampoo as required.
I agree with the other poster, Flea drops work best...and no shampooing messes !

Call your vet and get something. It's the most effective, safest way to kill fleas. Those over the counter things don't work very well and are very toxic to your dog.

The cheapest and most effective thing I have found is garlic gel caps that you can find at walmart. the garlic is excreted out of the dogs skin, and fleas or ticks can not stay on the dog. It practically smothers them. Good Luck
