He is throwing up clear liquid and wont eat or drink. I saw a long spagetti like worm in his stool today and called the vet. He cant see him until Monday. Are these symptoms normal for worms>Or could this be something else too?? I bought store quality wormer to try to get him through the weekend but he threw it up. Any advice will be appreciated. he is a 5 month old rottie by the way.

Hey everyone! Ok so here's the thing, my grandma has wanted a miniature or t-cup yorkshire terrier for a long long time now. But she is on social security and she doesn't have a lot of money and that breed of puppies is expensive. So does any one know where I can get her a mini or t-cup yorkie PUPPY for under $300?! And in the wausau area or surrounding areas in wisconsin? If any one can help I would reall really appreciate it, I want to buy it for her b-day and that's in two months! of everything. I can't even laugh or speak loudly over the tv because he flinches.......i feel so bad, how can i comfort him?

i do the best i can, i've learn to speak lower, and be more accomodating to him...... will he ever be not afraid?

he even gets scared when my boxer or bullmastiff bark!

he cries if we don't show him affection, so we are constantly showing him affection. please help!!!

He is running nonstop. He just ran around the block like he is in a panic. He came home and is running in the house like he's freaked out. He's about 15. He's a cocker and is fairly deaf. He's barking like ahound dog kind of. I just locked him in the bathroom, and he's quiet now. He crapped in the kitchen while he was running around.

I've seen him around dogs in heat and its not that. I dont want to take him to a vet and be charged 200 bucks for them to kill him.

I recently bought an 8 month old Basset Puppy from a breeder. She's been eating IAMS Puppy, but she has allergies to it and is a tad skinny (33 lbs). So, I've been switching her to Canidae Life Stages slowly this week (just a small bit in her food and sometimes as a treat).

Yesterday, she stopped eating the IAMS and only wants the Canidae. She only eats the IAMS if I mix it really well and today she refused to eat at all any of the IAMS until she was starved late in the day (by then I caved and put in more Canidae). The breeder said she eats 3 cups of IAMS a day.I feed her in three meals to prevent bloat.

So, my question is tomorrow I'm going to get a larger bag of Canidae (it's an hour drive, but worth it!). I want to know how much she should be eating. Also, if I add in some canned Canidae daily how would that effect feeding amounts.

My other question -- since she only wants the Canidae can I stop the slow introduction and just switch? It's only been about 4 days.

I used to give these to my dog because they kept him occupied for awhile if I had to do some work or go out for a bit, but they always used to last him a few days, sometimes a week. Now, he rips through them in perhaps an hour. He's only a 15 pound Cairn Terrier. Would eating too many chew sticks cause any problems for him, digestive or otherwise? Thanks!

Ok I am just against puppymills as much as the rest of you, but there is something that bothers me......
You all say that you shouldn't buy a puppy from a pet store because he could have come from a puppymill, but don't you think that it would be better to buy dogs from a pet store than a breader because the dogs at a pet store will go BACK to a puppymill and be abused and dogs that aren't bought from breeders will just become their pet or something. i think it is stupid the buy from a breader because think about all of those helpless puppys going to puppymills to keep on having babies until they can no longer move and they die in their own pee and poo because they aren't let out of cages andit is always dark in the rooms. what you you think?

My puppy has hookworm so we gave her some over the counter meds.... nothing changed. so we took her to the vet and they gave her some meds..... nothing has changed. She still has hookworm and she has been on meds for 2 months now.... any one have any suggestions on how to get ride of them

Hello. :-) I'm new to this forum. Well, I just recently adopted a puppy about 2-3 months ago. My puppy name is Miley. I got a hard time identifying my puppy's breed. She is only 4 months old right now and weight around 14 to 16lbs. She got a really long body and her legs are not short. Miley is a Golden Retriever mixed, because her mother is a Golden Retriever, and her father is unknown. Most people told me that Miley could be a Dachshund/Golden Retriever mixed, but I'm not sure. If Miley is a Dachshund/Golden Retriever how big will she get? Others said that she will be only 25-30 lbs. I just want to know what breed is she. Below are photos of Miley.

If U don't know what a Bichon Frise looks like, go to "horningsfarm.com" & see that puppy in white !! I think that the puppy should have a name that is Regal or Charming. Also should it be a person's name ?? Like Quentin Vaughn ?? This would be my substitute baby !! Also do U vote for getting a boy or girl & WHY? Thx for all your assistance !!

He HAS been to the vet, he doesn't have worms and doesn't have parvo or any other illness that the vet can detect. He told me the diarrhea is probably just stomach-upset from eating something he shouldn't have, and that it will pass. He's eating and drinking normally, he's not lethargic or depressed. I've been giving him plenty of water to make sure he's not getting dehydrated. What could I feed him to "stop him up?" Plain rice? Bananas? Any ideas? Or should I leave it alone?

I think the show is badly made - too much 'before and after', not enough 'during', and the little we see of his techniques are physically aggressive (e.g. jabbing, poking)!

Why do people always recommend his techniques, esp. when (thanks to the editing of the show) they haven't seen them properly in action, but what we *do* see is physically violent? There is no 'whispering' involved, he doesn't sense a thing in comparison to our dog's behavioural trainer - now *there's* a bona fide dog whisperer!

Can anyone tell me what this means? I have always had pure blooded dogs but most have came from shelters and didnt have papers. And the others didnt have stud book parents on their papers. I was given a dog with papers, on them his parents are listed in a stud book. Does this mean they are good breeders, (even though Im not looking to breed him for a long while!if there are no problems with health) would my male be a good breeder baring no health problems? No jerks just tring to increase my knowledge!

Is there such thing as a Silver Lab? I looked it up on google and they showed pictures of dogs that looked like a cross between a lab and a weinimer (sp). They are silver with bright eyes a slinder head and snout and floppy ears like weinimer but fairly large bodies with long coats? I've never even heard of one till my co worker said he had one with papers i lauhed and said he got jipped but maybe im wrong! Am i?

What's the deal with vets and others who claim it's unhealthy for dogs to eat people food?
I've always allowed my dogs to have table scraps---minus bad stuff like bones, chocolate,onions, grapes or raisins.
Ever since the whole poisoned dogfood thing I refuse to let my two dogs have any type of dogfood including treats and chews.
I cook for them instead, chicken, beef, vegtables and I make homemade dog treats for them like liver chewies---they are now HEALTHIER THAN EVER! Thier coat is brighter thier eyes are clearer and they are happier, I will never feed dogfood to another of my dogs ever, present or future!
I think vets just have thier fingers in the dog food companies and care more about the money in thier pockets than the health of dogs.

I'm leaving for about 3 days, I don't mind to keep 3 of my dogs in the kennel.. but my mini dachshund hates strangers. He will sometimes snap and act like he's going to bite a visitor (in my home), once he actually did bite a person.

Should I take him or let my cousin stay in my house to babysit (although she probably doesn't want to). Can the kennel sue me or report me to animal control if he bites one of them?
