Hey everyone! Ok so here's the thing, my grandma has wanted a miniature or t-cup yorkshire terrier for a long long time now. But she is on social security and she doesn't have a lot of money and that breed of puppies is expensive. So does any one know where I can get her a mini or t-cup yorkie PUPPY for under $300?! And in the wausau area or surrounding areas in wisconsin? If any one can help I would reall really appreciate it, I want to buy it for her b-day and that's in two months! Thanks ahead of time for anyone that helps!

It's called petfinder.com

You don't want a t-cup breeder - why - because anyone that breeds t-cups is pulling your leg. T-cups are usually sickly illbred dogs with lots of health problems - and by your own admittance, your grandma doesn't have a lot of money. T-cups are runts - and runts have more health problems. You are better off finding a plain old yorkshire terrier - the breed standard (www.akc.org) for a fullsized yorkshire terrier is only 7 pounds!!

Try petfinder.com or your local shelter, or find a breeder of regular yorkshire terriers - run away screaming from anyone that claims to breed t-cups. No responsible breeder breeds t-cup anythings. Those breeders are irresponsible and out to steal your money - for example, there is a breeder here on YA that gives 72 hour health guarantees! SEVENTY TWO HOURS!

Please don't use the term t-cup, it means that you support backyard and irresponsible breeding.

Good luck on finding a puppy.

What a great grand-daughter you are!

Now here is the thing. A Yorkie is a small dog. There are no mini's or tea cups... Those are terms unscrupulous breed's have come up with. The smaller a particular breed of dog is breed, the less likely it will be a healthy animal. They are very fragile when they are breed to be tiny tiny.

The breed standard states that the body should be:

Well proportioned and very compact. The back is rather short, the back line level, with height at shoulder the same as at the rump.

Their height should 6 to 7 inches at the shoulder, their weight must not exceed seven pounds. (I'd say that the average show dog is about 5 pounds.

Yorkies are an active breed that loves to play. And are very loving to their family. Good luck in finding one for your grandma!
