My dog swollowed a bone and I need her to throw up. It's been a week since she's eaten and the only other option I have is to put her down. Does anyone know how to make a dog throw up?

I have had her to the vet, once for blood work and again for x-rays. She's 13 years old and a large dog now at only 44lbs...she's too weak for surgery.

take ur dog to a vet. Putting it down or making it vomit is not the answer. If u take it to a vet, u can see if the vet. will do an x-ray to see if the bone could have done some internal damage,(ex. if it got caught on something) If you haven't taken ur dog to the vet in a while, dont feel ashamed. The worst thing to do is to not get some medical help for your dog. Everything should be fine. try putting a dog treat in the middle of her food dish. if she smells the treat, she may eat. It works for me when mi dog doesn't eat her food sometimes

Yes, there are ways to induce vomiting. This case is too advanced for that too work. Like a previous answer stated. The bone is too far into the digestive track. Probably lodged in the small intestine. Also, depending on the size of bone piece it could cause as much damage coming back up.

Take her to the vet. They can do some X-rays to find out where it is stuck. They might even be able to extract it without highly invasive surgery.

Making her vomit will not solve the problem. If she has a gut impaction, then you need to get her to a vet. Putting her down is not your only option if you act quickly-they can do emergency surgery and remove the bone. Inducing vomiting will only make your dog weaker. If it has been a week since she's eaten the bone, it is already too far down her digestive track to be brought up by vomiting. Get her to a vet!

Add: So did the vet tell you to induce vomiting? If so, you need to find a new vet. If your dog is too weak for surgery, humane euthanasia could be the best choice...to die from ingesting a bone would be a long and painful death. I would seek a second opinion, I have very rarely seen dogs too weak to risk a life-saving procedure.

You need to take your dog to the vet immediately! Making it throw up is not the answer there is something seriously wrong and only a vet can help you. If you wait much longer the dog is going to die from starvation. How can you be so cruel to your own pet to watch it suffer and starve for a week! This is criminal and you should be punished for not taking better care of your pet. Shame on you! Do the right thing and take it to the vet right now instead of sitting on your computer asking questions you should know the answer to!

If your dog ate a bone a week ago, then the bone is no longer in her stomach. It is also not wise to make a dog vomit after eating a potentially sharp object as in can cause trauma to the esophagus and get stuck in the esophagus. You need to have your dog seen by a veterinarian and have surgery to remove the bone from its intestinal tract. If you can't afford it, then you need to euthanize her as a death from peritonitis and sepsis is very painful.

remind me never to let anything go down the wrong pipe when youre around...dang...youre gonna have her put down just because she swallowed a bone and got it stuck? it wouldnt cost that much to have the vet remove it if you really think anything of your dog, but i think letting it go this long already without eating for something that is fairly simple like this is a little big ridiculous in itself.

just get her to a vet and get the problem fixed.

ummm, I think you need to take her to a vet to have her looked at and have the bone removed. If you make her throw up, it could do even more damage coming up. you need to be a responsible pet owner and take her to a vet. not eating for a week is cruel and you could be prosecuted for not seeking medical treatment.
