He is throwing up clear liquid and wont eat or drink. I saw a long spagetti like worm in his stool today and called the vet. He cant see him until Monday. Are these symptoms normal for worms>Or could this be something else too?? I bought store quality wormer to try to get him through the weekend but he threw it up. Any advice will be appreciated. he is a 5 month old rottie by the way.

Between now and Monday, don't give the pup any more over the counter worming medicine and when you take him in to the Vet let the Vet know exactly what you gave him and how much as well as what you noticed with this worm and his throwing up, avoiding water and food. Could be round worm infestation but the dog likely has more than one kind of worm and could have other parasites. He should also get tested to see if he is heartworm positive. Don't give him any heartguard, or use any heartworm prevention topical flea product until getting him checked from the Vet. Try giving him some Pedialyte, clear-not colored- and mix it half and half with water to keep him from dehydrating. You can also get some pumpkin pie filling if he gets diarrhea. It will help to stop that.
If he starts getting weak and lethargic or already is, if there is a way to, it would be good to get him in to an emergency clinic or take him to a clinic of another Vet that is open on Saturday (some places, there are many Vets that are open on Saturday).
I own three rescued pups and all had multiple health issues because of the conditions they came from but once those were worked through, they started thriving!

If your dog is that sick, and your vet won't fit you in until Monday, you need to find a new vet or go to an emergency clinic. We do see vomiting from worms, but this sounds like it could be a more serious problem. I wouldn't recommend using any more wormer right now, as you don't know what kind of worms he has (probably rounds) and what else is wrong with him. Get him to a vet that is willing to help you!

Don't try to give him any more wormer. Those over the counter wormers aren't very good and there are different kinds of worms requiring different kinds of treatments. Let your vet give your dog a wormer on Monday at the appt.

yes if you saw a worm than that is your sign!!! and yes these symptons are consistent with worms!!! all puppies are born with round worms and thats what you decribed they look like spagetti noodles!! take a stool sample with you in a baggie to your vet that way they can test it and tell you exactly whats going on and if he has any other parasites or diseases. you need to take the most recent sample with you to so try to get one from an hour or so before you leave if you can if you cant they will just do one on him themselves but that will be uncomfortable for him...please do not give him the store wormer it will do more harm than good!!!!!! dont give him anything especially if your vet will see him on monday!!!! if he just started throwing up you should be ok thru the weekend!! if hes been doing it for more than a few days emphasize to your vet the urgency of the situation!!! otherwise you can give him white rice mixed with ground beef (plain ground beef fried up and cooked no seasoning!!) or try baby food like the chicken and rice or turkey and rice or straight chicken or turkey dinner!!! all these foods are plain and easy on his stomach but will give him the nutrition he still needs. also try getting him to drink some pedialyte its that drink for babies when they are dehydrated, which he will need for the throwing up. you can try it straight or put some in his water!!! good luck and be careful, i hope your puppy is o.k!!!

Has he had any shots? is he having diarrhea also? It could be parvo, of course it could also be a parasite infection considering you saw a worm. I'd get him seen by some vet , even if its not your regular vet. You don't want him to get dehydrated from throwing up.

It is obvious that your dog has a serious problem. Just make sure that he gets enough water to avoid dehydration. Hopefully, he'll be fine once he visits the veterinarian.

P.S. I've included a website on the types of worms. Hope he gets better.

Sounds like he has round worms. The store bought wormer should work. Try to get him to at least drink. If he has a lot of worms in his stomach they could be making him sick to his stomach. If his gums are not black do they look pale, as in not a healthy pink? That can indicate worms. Tomorrow give him a dose of wormer again.....

I would try to find a vet that can see him sooner than Monday, even if it's an emergency vet.
