If I put water down, he drinks the ENTIRE bowl immediately. If I fill it back up, he does the same thing. If he has water down, he won't eat his food because he'd rather drink and then his tummy gets full so I don't give him water until he is done eating. For all the other dogs I've ever had, I always made sure they had water constantly, but he drinks so much that he is constantly peeing and he is not fully housebroken yet. Is it ok to just give him a bowl of water after he eats (twice a day) and then maybe like 2 or 3 other times throughout the day?

So I just got a dog. Took it to the vet and got it checked out. He's two months (or so) and in good health. He has worms though. Dr gave him first rabbies shot and some oral med for deworming. She sadi not to give him any over the counter dewormers.
Now there are worms (tiny) falling outta my dogs butt, do I take him back to the vet??? What the heck!!!

I've already decided since the urine has already dried to put the cushion in the tub with warm water, but what do i add to the water to remove the urine odor?
Does walmart carry a special cleaner for this that actually takes urine odors out?

Ok. I have a 13 month old male, steralised German Shepherd x Border Collie. He has a gorgeous nature (loving, playful, affectionate), but mega behavioural problems. He can't or won't housetrain (we've done everything), he jumps, paws you, barks constantly, destroys anything he can get to, digs, and is totally restless and unable to settle.
He doesn't growl or show aggression at home, but when we take him out anywhere he just constantly barks and the vet is fairly sure it's anxiety or nervous barking. She thinks he may need to go on some Prozac or something and have behaviour therapy. Also, most of his littermates were rehomed, and his mother was euthanised due to aggression. Most of his littermates weren't aggressive though, just destructive.
We've got a full assessment booked in 10 days time, and a consultation with the behaviour specialist but does anyone think he can be retrained? I really don't want to have him put down?! Thanks.

I just stare at my Boxer until she gets pissed. It's funny and sometimes I mimic her and she does it back to me. Then she makes funny sounds until I stop.

So my problem is that my whole backyard is infested with ticks. Before, my father took care of this, but now he's gone, my mom's raising two kids, a house, bills, and bad habits of her own that she has to take care of.

Today, I found that one of my dogs was COVERED, and I mean there was no fur where they a were, in ticks! On her ears and the top of her head, especially.

Well, I talked to my mother, and all she did was stress out and asked to let her go in the night. Please be considerate; she's a simple woman and Asian. There were many stray dogs when she was a child.

Anywho, I didn't want to do anything so rash like to just let her loose. So I said that I wanted to take her to the humane society, and then she brought up that we might get into trouble with animal abuse.

The ticks has never gotten this bad before. And I've tried Frontline, and it doesn't really work.

Could I take it to the humane society and say I found her?

It's horrible, but my mom won't do anything else.

I hate that a bunch of different dog breeds are lumped into one category, and called 'pit bulls.' And it isn't a very defined term either. It includes the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier for sure. But some people also include the American Bulldog, Bull Terrier, and Miniature Bull Terrier. And some people also include any other dog breed who might resemble a 'pit bull' or any mixed breed who looks like a 'pit bull.' So it is subjective. I think it creates a lot of confusion. I often refer to my American Pit Bull Terrier as a Pit Bull because it is easier for me, and Pit Bull is actually in the breed name, and it is not in the others.

When you hear the word "pit bull" what do you think of? And do you think that the term causes confusion?

I contacted a local breeder by email, informing them that I was interested in their puppies and the time frame for the purchase, along with some other details. I asked about upcoming litters, and also if they could provide references. I received a very short reply that really didn't address any of my questions. In the pictures the puppies look healthy and adorable, and I have a co-worker that purchased a dog from them some time ago, and they are happy with their dog. However, I am very put off by this short, impersonal response, especially the lack of references. What should I do?

Okay:

My dog keeps rubbing her but across the floor. It could be anal glands, worms etc.,.... i am going to take her to a vet asap but also i found worms in her food! Tapeworms, my dog ate it and i told her not too, will she have worms inside of her???? Please do not say take her to da vet because i will, i just wanna know whats wrong with her, what could be wrong???? Not something confusing either. If you have had this problem and expierenced with this, please explain!!! The questions I want you to answer....:

Does my dog have tapeworms inside of her from eating the food?

Why were there tapeworms inside her food and how did they get there?

Is the anal gland full?

When i take her to the vet, if she has worms and an anal problem, how much will this all cost?

She won't poop so i can't see if she has any worms yet???

She's brown with a little black on her face! She is so cute! Please help me though, I stink at thinking of dog names. I don't want to name her "Happy" or "Yippy" or anythign that has to do with her personality....I think it's to common. So, long story short, Could you help me think of some unusual names for a female Yorkie pup?

I have a pure bred CKC Shih Tzu that just went into heat! I also have three different people who want me to use their studs. I just don't know though!

One is a Lhasa Apso. He seems nice, but his owner wants a puppy AND a stud fee.

The second one is a Jack Russell Terrier. This dog is extremely high strung, but his owner only wants $300 as a stud fee and that is half of what I can sell a puppy for!

Then there is the Miniature Bull Terrier. He is a little bigger than my girl, but only 5 lbs, that shouldn't be a problem, should it? They only want pick of the litter.

So, what do you think? Which one should I use?

I'm a full time college student, and when I have to leave home for school, my female maltese, who is a puppy, gets left home with my parents. She is 7 mos old. When I'm home, she is with me, I feed her, walk her, and let her be on my bed. When I'm gone, my parents keep her locked in her kennel, don't let her out to go to the bathroom so she goes in the cage, and don't feed her. They say they do nothing for her because she is my dog and my responsibility, but while I'm gone she goes unfed and lays around in her own pee/ poop. I've tried convincing them to at least let her out to go to the bathroom but they refuse. What can I do?

Hi,

I have an 8 month old Black Lab/ Terrier Mix. He's 40lbs and in great shape. Last night around 7pm he had an explosive diareahha event. We thought nothing of it as his mood didn't change. Nothing else for that night, but this morning he woke up at (6am) and was lethargic. Slow going, but still active. He went potty and had a softer than normal movement. By the time I went to work (8am) he was more lethargic than when he woke up. I went to work and rushed home at Noon to check on him. By this time I almost had to force him to get out of his crate. We went potty and (normal stool) there was a 2in peice of plastic that looked like a coffee stirrer in his stool. I mean I have never seen him this slow paced, he's usually a non-stop little spark plug. I stayed home after that, called the Vet. He said to fast him for 24hrs and limit water. Now 9pm and he pretty much won't move. I need suggestions. He is not sensative to the touch anywhere, belly is soft, nose wet, paws normal. Thanks!

I have a 5month old female Great Dane, and she's a great dog, but very hyper at times. She will run as fast as she through out the whole house for like 10minutes straight. We walk her, and let her play outside all the time. Does anyone elses Great Danes do this??
