He is a pomeranian and is about 4 years old. He's had a full coat once since I adopted him from the pound. [when we got him he did not have hair, but over the course of time he grew hair.] He then recieved a hair cut and his hair has not grown back since [this was about a year ago.], does anyone have any ideas for how to cure this illness? No vets can find anything wrong so i decided to ask you guys... HELP ME & MY DOG, PLEASE!

How much does a veterinarian get paid? I am thinking about becoming a veterinarian and i don't know what their salary is. I was thinking of becoming either an equine veterinarian or just a regular(dog, cat) veterinarian.

I know dogs aren't supposed to sweat. My canine anatomy & physiology book says the only sweat glands they have is between their paw pads. But whenever my short-haired chihuahua gets real warm and is panting, his "armpits" (what would be an armpit in a human, I guess) get all wet! The only explanation I have for it is sweat, but supposedly dogs have no sweat glands there. Could he be a freak? Or is there another explanation I'm missing?

I think my dog has worms, but I am not certain. Is there anything I can give her to fix it if it is worms? My wife's dad says break up a cig and feed her the tobacco but that sounds like it could be sort of dangerous to me! Please help. We are dirt poor and cannot afford to take her to the vet. Thanks.

In a dog that has a pink or black roof of his mouth?

Some dumb guy said that if a dog's roof of the mouth is pink, he's an idiot or stupid.

Well, my female Shih Tzu, Poochie, is in heat, and I left her loose with one of my male Shih Tzu pups, Sammie for the past week. My daughters told me that they mated at least 5 or 6 times. So, how many puppies will I have?

If I have done my adding right, the puppies should be born in late November, so they would be about 5 weeks old on Christmas! Can I sell them then? And, do you charge extra if they are ready for Christmas?

What do you think?

So, since my dogs (maltese) mated a bunch of times when she was in heat I'm guessing that she is pregnant and want to treat her as if she is. If she's pregnant she would be between 7 & 15 days along (see my other post on dates). Problem is, I've read conflicting information on nutrition for a pregnant *****, I would like to get your advice and experiences on these things so that I can make sure my girl is getting all that she needs. I would like to know, in your experience and knowledge, what things are good, bad, and unnessasary. If you have a clear cut nutrition plan which you used and worked out great for you that I could follow, I would greatly appreciat that also.
First off, I switched her food from Innova Evo (because I couldnt find a puppy formula from Innova) to Wellness Super 5 Mix puppy formula (wet & dry because she wasnt wanting to eat for 1 1/2 days and I get worried about her not eating because she is small, 7 lbs, and when I mix wet food w/ dry she gets more interested and actually eats) I've been feeding her 1/4 cup dry mixed w/ 1/4 cup wet, twice a day, thats 1 cup total food per day(both wet and dry are the Wellness Super 5 mix puppy formula).
Next, I read to give them Nutri-Cal and Shark's liver oil twice a week while pregnant then 3 times a week after pups are born. I've been giving her Nutri-cal twice a week (an inch on my finger), but I cant find the shark oil in any stores so far.
Next, I read to give them about a tablespoon of cottage cheese every other day. This puzzles me because of the calcium, I also read that too much calcium is bad for them. So what's the deal with cottage cheese, benefit or risk???
Finally, a friend of mine said she gives her dogs a couple tablespoons of canned Makrel (fish, dont know if i spelled it right) 3 times a week. I've never heard this before so I want to know what the benefits from this are, if any, or dangers, if any. Once again, all of your experiences and advice are much appreciated. I would like to come up with a great nutrition plan to give her the best she can get. Thanks again!

We'd love to get a large breed dog, but we're not sure how much room it needs to roam. I'll be honest and say I'm a little concerned about how much mess a large breed would make, too. Anybody have any experience with them?

Okay, How do people fing it okay to ban certain breeds of dogs because they are so called "Dangerous" but people can smoke in public areas and that's okay.

Hello...second hand smoke is way more dangerous than any breed of dog.

I just don't understand how we live in a world that is so messed up.

What are your thoughts?

My American Bulldog keeps niping my kids, every time I see this I reprimand the puppy by firmly tapping its nose with 2 fingers each time he does this action, however he still insists on niping at my kids. We have come to love the puppy but I'm at wits end on trying to get him to stop niping a tthe kids because they want to play with him. So what do I do then?

I have a black Lab and she likes to roll, she's 12 yrs old and very healthy, she's mostly an inside dog who is let out to go to the bathroom.

The only problem is she loves to roll when she is outside the most and she almost always rolls in poop! How can I stop her from this habit or at least get her to not roll in stuff?
Any suggestions?

Help, this is getting to be annoying and a mess!

Thanks in advance for your help!

My husband and I cannot agree on this: (Note: We have a 2 year-old son).
After playing ball with our adorably loving Pit Bull, my husband lets her keep her ball with her on her bed. I always take it away after game time, because I'm worried she'll become possessive if anybody, namely our son, goes to grab the ball, even if it's all in fun. She has never once nipped at another person, but I've done my research and I just don't think it's a good idea. My husband disagrees. He's been a dog owner his entire life (this is my first dog), and he thinks that if she's been good, she "deserves" to keep it with her on her bed. What do you think?
