Honey, I don't know of any way to stop a seizure with household remedies. I'm hoping that by now it has stopped. Seizures don't usually last as long as they feel like they are. I'm assuming that you've treated the heartworms and that is not the problem now. If it is, then, it's very very serious. If that's not the problem there could be many reasons for your dog to have a seizure. It could be poisons, infections, nervous system disorders, head injury or epilepsy.

They look very scary but it's usually harder on the person watching than on the dog. He may be confused afterwards so keep your distance but talk to him softly until he's able to recognize you.

He's not going to swallow his tongue. DON'T put your hand anywhere near his mouth. Protect him from accidental injury by wrapping him in a blanket until the seizure is over. Watch him carefully and even take notes. Report everything to the vet. He'll want to know whether he was jerking all over or just very stiff, whether he lost consciousness or didn't seem to recognize you, if he acted strangely before the seizure, and how long the seizure lasted. And of course, have your parents take him to the vet as soon as possible after the seizure - or if the seizure continues too long, take him while he's having it.

Also ignore the people who yelled at you for not taking him to the vet. I think they are forgetting just how limited your own options are at 11. But you can help, just like I described above.

This sounds like a seizure. You need to get him to the vet as soon as possible, the vet will give him medicine to stop the seizures and then they will try to find out the cause. My dog has seizures and he is doing great, so get him to the vet, hope all goes well and good luck.

Sweetie, if you dog has heartworm, your parents have to take him to the vet and get him treated.

If he's having a seizure, they need to take him to the vet as well.

I'm sorry this is happening and I'm sorry you are scared. All of us here will say a prayer for your dog ok? Talk to your parents and ask them to take your dog to the vet ok?

I just realized that you are only 11. You need to get out there and tell you parents to get that dog to the vet right now.

By the time you get an answer you could have been to the vet. Heart worm medicine should be given once a month every month. You could have called the vet in the time it took you to write this.

I would call up the vet. Do you have the vet's number? You should. If you dont, dont panic, just look in the phone book. Call them and tell them what is going on. Mabye they can come to you guys, or tell you what to do to keep the dog under control, or tell you step by step what to do.
Good luck!

If you want to know what's happenning you should see a vet. Nobody can tell you what's wrong with your dog over the internet.

Get your parents to drive to the vets immedietly, your parents should be responsible. They are the adults and they shouldn't just be standing there whilst you are panicing and he is having a seizure.

Well you're wasting more time by fooling around asking unqualified strangers instead of taking your dog to the vet as you should have done in the first place!

Who cares what your age is or if your friend is shopping if your dog is in the middle of a seizure?! What are you, crazy? If that is truly so, then he is in the middle of a medical emergency and you need to rush him to the vet, or the emergency vet.

Stop being dramatic and begging people you don't even know. What do you think they are going to do? What kind of "HELP" can they give? Reach their arms through the computer? Why aren't you outside talking to your PARENTS instead of sitting on your butt indoors watching your friend shop?! They are responsible for ensuring your dog gets the medical care he is entitled to BY LAW. If they're lazy or don't care then he will probably die because all living beings require food, water, shelter and medical care.
