Thoughts about BSL and Cigarette Smoking.?

Okay, How do people fing it okay to ban certain breeds of dogs because they are so called "Dangerous" but people can smoke in public areas and that's okay.

Hello...second hand smoke is way more dangerous than any breed of dog.

I just don't understand how we live in a world that is so messed up.

What are your thoughts?

Second hand smoke kills too! just because you smoke doesn't mean that everyone around you should get cancer.

What about the Parents who smoke around their kids? the kids have no choice but to be around their parents.
I see people smoking in their car with their kids and the windows up...WTF?

And people want my dogs whohaven't done anything to anyone banned?.

I'll tell you,I would much rather be bitten by a dog than end up with cancer or emphysema.My mother smoked for 50 years,and she is now only 75 lbs,with severe lung disease and osteoporosis.I have asthma from being around her smoke all my life,and I could develop cancer or COPD.I agree that cigarettes should banned,and people with kids should not be allowed to smoke at all or risk having their kids taken from them.You know,you can cause your animals to get cancer and respiratory problems,by smoking around them,too.So,yeah,if they're going to ban specific breeds,then they should definitely ban cigarettes,which cause the suffering and deaths of many,many more people each year than dogs have in the history of the world! The laws are really stupid.

People are saying "dangerous dogs should be banned." And yes, I do feel like we need to some how control dangerous dogs. But banning certain breeds isn't the same as banning dangerous dogs. Not every dog of every breed is the same. I have met good and bad from almost all breeds. I think a good way to regulate dangerous dogs is to require that all dogs (of every breed!) go through an obedience class and pass a termperament test in order to get their license. Rather than ONLY requiring a Rabies Vaccine.

Your 100% right. Smoking in my area is banned in public places except bars or clubs. It should be, if someone wants to smoke thats fine but several others don't want to breathe that stuff. Irresponsible people with guns are also more dangerous then dogs. Not to far from my home a 5 year old fatally shot himself, playing with his dad's gun. There is guns in my home, but they are kept in a locked gun cabinet unless my husband goes hunting. Dog attacks are caused by irresponsible owners & by people that don't educate their children how to behave around dogs. Most dog bites are provoked. So if were going to do BSL, get rid of the guns,cigarettes & liquor as well. They are more dangerous then any dog , I have been around.

To the original questioner: SHS smoke is bad, agreed. But do you feel the same way when driving a car? Using a lawn mower? Watching company after company pollute into the air...but the addicted people are jerks...

People are scared of the unknown. Nobody is afraid that a cigarette will attack them, but they can't predict a dog's behavior all the time. It is stupid, I know, but it all comes down to people's ignorance, and ignorance runs rampant, I am afraid.
Odds are much higher of dying from cigarette smoke than a dog attack, but what people choose to fear isn't necessarily rational. Nobody has a deathly fear of cigarettes, but it is easy to present propaganda about dogs and make the public fear them and want them gone.
It is completely irrational and ineffective to ban certain breeds, but again, fear isn't rational and fear is what is driving BSL.

Good question. I agree with you. I think smoking should be outlawed. Just like marijuana. I don't get why smoking pot is illegal but smoking tobacco is just fine. They both give you cancer, and risk the health of people around you. Get rid of it all.

Well, cigarettes are banned pretty much everywhere now. And a dangerous dog can maul a young child to death in a heartbeat. And ANY dog can, at any time, turn on you. MOST of them WON'T, but they are capable of it. But you are right. Our priorities are a little skewed at times.

Thank God they can't smoke in enclosed public areas now days. Anything that puts other humans in danger should be banned. Large aggressive dogs, secondhand smoke, DUI, etc. You just can't put others at risk for your own pleasure.

Because it's my choice to risk my life smoking a cigarette. Your dog tearing my arm off is your lack of control with your dog.
