You can't take ten minutes out of your day and think of a real name? It's not even original, if that's what you're after. You don't think in the long history of dogs and men, a lot of people have named their dogs, "dog", just because they thought it was original and/or funny? Do you really imagine that you're the first? A name like that is an insult to the owner. A name like that says, "Hey, look at me! I couldn't be bothered to try and think of a name for my dog, so I just call it "dog".
Get off your lazy a.ss (metaphorically speaking) and think of a name for your dog.
Say, do you know what you get if you cross an insomniac, a philosopher, and a dyslexic? Someone who lies awake at night contemplating the existence of doG.

I have never really thought of that, I always put a lot into names, because they all have a meaning or description of who you are naming -so if Dog is what you like and it certainly describes what he is then by all means name him that. I don't know anyone that has ever done that.I hope it is a male, it would be funny to name it the female version.

Well, start thinking of family members. Start thinking of friends, best friends, ext. What about original, normal names, like, if your dog's male, names like Connor, Eddie, ext. Now, if your dog is female, names like Sally,Kirsten, ext. Maybe if you have a brother and a sister or 2 friends, you can combine names, like I did.Ashley and Cameron. 'Came up with ''Ashron''. Well, 'hope my information will come in handy. And, you asked if I liked that name. If I were you, I would try and think of more detailed name. Catch you later!

Well, John Wayne had a dog named Dog in the movie Big Jake. So I'd say if it was good enough for the Duke's dog is would be fine for yours. :)

I personally don't like it. It might seem to other people that you don't care enough about your pet that you just call it Dog instead of it's name when you call it.
But it is your pet. If you want to name it Dog then you should. But you might want to rethink it. And wait til you get to know it and then pick a really good name... and call it dog til you find one... unless you really like calling it Dog. Whatever you decide, it is oyurs and name it what you want.

Actually, I like it. It is unique...never met anyone who named their dog, Dog. Plus, I don't think the dog cares.
And people have names like that too...."Guy" for example.

The name is boring. Add some flavor to it. Like pronounce it Dee-Oh-Gee. That is better than just plain old DOG. That way you can call your dog- DeeOhGee! You can spell it the same too. Good luck!

I have a friend who named her dog Puppy. I probably wouldn't name my dog Dog, but rather a variation...Deeohgee.
