We recently got another maltese in addition to the two dogs we already have. He wasn't neutered and neither was our female chihuahua so we kept preventing anything from going on but today they escaped the gate thing we put up to prevent them from going anywhere together. And they got stuck.
So now my chihuahua is gonna be pregnant?
Does pregnancy come everytime after mating for a dog?
She's 4 years old and I want to know if it's safe for her.
And we didn't want puppies because a maltese and chihuahua mix wasn't so cute and we didnt want to keep all of the puppies since we already have three dogs.

I'm very worried.

We have a 3 1/2 month old Kuvasz puppy(large breed). She has been sick all day and hasnt slept since yesterday afternoon. We took her to the Vet today and they said its probably joint pains caused from her growing. They gave her an anti-inflammatory pill but it hasnt kicked in yet and she seems to be in a lot of pain and really tired. Is there anyone that might know what else we can do for her. I called the vet again a couple hours after we got home and they just said to bring her in tomorrow if it continues. I hate to see her like this. Can anyone help?

Does anyone know how to get rid of fleas on a dog? We've tried everything: washing her in dawn, rubbing flea medicine on her, a flea collar, washing her in flea shampoo. None of it seems to work.
We live in an apartment and have to take her out to use the restroom, so that's where she's getting them from. But, we have no alternative to that. They are also getting into our home. Any way to prevent or even treat that??
Please help!

Ok I just got a new Chihuahua puppy yesterday. He is 8 weeks old and the runt of the litter. The person I got him from said that he was a mommas boy and always by her side. He would play for a little while with his bros/sis's but then went to be by mom. I have had him for about 24hrs now and in that time, he eats but not alot, he drinks but VERY little he pees everytime he comes out of his crate and has pooped once this morning. He has come out to play a few times today for about 15-20 mins at a time, but the rest of the time he sleeps in his crate. Is this normal?

I'm confused about my two dogs. You see, I'm afraid the second one's already attatched to me even if I've had her only for a day. Our current dog is quiet and I like it that way. But since we've gotten the new dog the old one is playful to the point of being annoying.

I think animals have feelings and I don't want the new one's feelings to be hurt since this is a trial run and we could give her back any time.

I'm beginning to become obsessed. I have two questions that need answering.
1. Do you think being this playful will wear off over time? (My first dog wants to play with my second dog ALL THE TIME)
2. How do you get rid of obsession?

The cat is declawed in the front; we got him that way from the humane society. He is an indoor cat who would like to be an indoor/outdoor cat.

We have a small/medium yard. After training, the dog will need to stay at home by himself for about nine hours a day during the school year.

In the end, we may just get a nice shelter mutt, but it still might help to see what breeds are recommended.

Thanks for all responses.

I ordered the Wilderness Merrick Dog food this morning around 11 AM. How long should it take to get to my house? Also, does anyone feed this to their dogs? If so, do they like it? How are they doing on it? I want all feedback. But please don't tell me to get another dog food, I want to know about this one, and this one only. Thank you.

I am a small hobby dog breeder. Puppymills are all over the news now, I am not one, but I am wondering what everyone considers a puppymill (it is a very broad term) and how a breeder would avoid someone thinking they are one? Beyond the obvious of taking proper care of their animals.

My 9 week old puppy was in the animal hospital two nights ago with severe dehydration. She's back at home now and seems to be completely fine but she has some sort of cough. It sounds like she's wheezing... or has something in her throat....or even like she's dry heaving. What is it? And should I take her back to the vet?

My little boy. "Peppy" (chihuahua) follows me into the bathroom.( I don't mind if I'm showering or taking a bath) but he has this odd habit of watching me pee. He doesn't do anything, he just stares at me.

Has my pup lost his mind?

Does anyone else's dog do this?

If we try to go get her from away from the road (so she doesn't get hit) she gets agressive and will bite. If we try discipline her with a swat o nthe nose, she gets mroe aggravated and will lunge at and bite even worse tha nthe first time. She will also do this on certain occasions when she doesn't want to come in the hosue or go in her kennel? I've actually disciplined her to the point where I was afraid I'd hurt her, and she will still not back down. This is only teaching her that she can get away with whatever she wants if she bites. Now it has even gotten to the point to where if we try to restrain her from anything by holding her collar (chasing cats, cars or other dogs) she gets agressive. Again if we try to discipline her by saying "NO!!" and swat her on the nose, she'll jump back and try to attack our hands. She;s normally fine, but it's instances like this that suck! Do shock collars work? What eorkse best? Will she ever get better? Any information would be helpfull. Thank!

I have three dogs..one of them being 9 years old. He's a Basset Hound. I know Bassets usually live anywhere from 8-12 years or so. So he's getting up there.
Well today after it stopped raining I decided to take all three of them on a long nature walk. (we live out in the country) It's usually nice after the rain because all the deer are out running around and they like it.
So two of them were outside..the eldest and the middle basset. And both usually jump up on the fence so I can attach their leashes...well the eldest, he didnt. He sat there and started howling...I didnt think much of that. So when we started walking (normally they love to run and pull on the leash) he sat there and wouldnt move. I know Bassets are stubborn...but mine never are usually. So eventually I got him walking.
He isnt too happy about our newest Basset...the new one is still a puppy and he likes to chew on long ears...well normally the eldest barks and gets annoyed with the puppy but today..continuing..

I was just wondering if anyone owns one of these types of dogs and if they can tell me if they have a lot of health problems? I have heard that they are the dogs with the most health concerns, is this correct? Has anyone else heard of this? I'm really interested in purschasing one and would just like more info on them?

My vet suggested I take my 6 month old Pekingese to a pet behviorist. Since her spay last month she has been very mean. She has always bitten my ankles or tried to nibble my fingers but, since the spay she bites hard to cause pain, she has broken skin several times. She actually yells back at me when I yell at her or punish her. If I put her in her crate she throws a holy fit, poops all over it and when she comes out she looks like she is going to have a heartattack she is so out of breath and frantic looking.

When I called the speciaist they were talking about medicine like puppy prozac, I really don't like drugs for humans or dogs. Are there alternatives that have been prven to work... perhaps homeopathic like acupuncture or herbs along with training?

My dog doesnt stop scratching after i bathe him in flea soap. I've tried dishwashing detergent a few weeks ago, also store bought flea shampoo.

He uses front line plus and K9-advantix dont seem to work. yes i put it on his scalp and i dont bathe him afterwards. I also put on a flea collar a few days ago... i bathe him once a week, he is a shih tzu

I already flea bombed the whole house a few times in the last few months(i found some fleas on me last week)

so the question is, do i assume it is not fleas that he is sratching b/c he still scratches after i bathe him?

i have already started switching his food to non-corn..... btw he is 10 months old.
