Only feed your dog a holistic dog food, I reccomend Burns and Canidae. Look them up. Either that or feed him raw meat, cooked brown rice, carrot, etc. Feed him a clove of garlic every now and then any maybe some cod liver oil, whatever you are feeding him.
Its amazing how many problems are caused by brands like pedigree chum and even those Science diets.
The ingredients should read something like this:
Brown Rice (min 63%), Fish (min18%), Oats, Peas, Fish Oil, Sunflower Oil, Seaweed, Minerals and Vitamins.
If it says anything you don't understand or are unsure about dont buy it.
BAD INGREDIENTS: Corn/maize, brewers yeast (not the worst), any 'E' numbers, any colors, BHA/BHT, Beet pulp, meat by-products, meat digest, Ethoxyquin (a preservative, illegal for human use), Wheat gluten.
Food really does have a huge effect on a dog. Bad food causes, dandruff and a whole range of skin problems, gas, messy stools, obesity, etc.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Here is a good website where you can learn about the different dog foods...
http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/
If you want the best dog food that is a kibble- go for one of the 6 star foods, like Evo. Evo has no grains and is human quality.
If you really want what is best for your dog, then I recommend going to this site, www.rawmeatybones.com , and reading the 2 books written by Dr. Tom Lonsdale, DVM. If you read those books, then you won't want to feed your dog kibble ever again. You will be more interested in feeding your dog a proper raw prey model diet.
Good luck.

I personally use Canidae lamb and rice. It is all made in the United States - which is a huge plus to me considering the recent dog food recall. Mainly you want to look at the label and go for those that the first ingredients are meat and veggies - and less of the stuff you cant pronounce!

Eagle Pack (holistic formulas), Canidae, Wellness and Innova are all good foods and none are cheap. Their primary ingredient is a named meat and they contain no corn, wheat or soy. None of the ingredients are imported. All come from the USA. If you decide to feed Canidae, make sure it is NOT the one from Petsmart in a blue bag. The one you want comes in a green bag and is available at feed and pet stores but not Petsmart. Make sure the Eagle Pack is one of their holistic formulas. The others have corn in them..

Any of the super premiums can't be beat. You can't get super premiums in a super market, go to a pet store and preferably not a chain one. Here are a few but this is not all of them by any means: Innova, Canidae, Wellness, Natural Balance, Flint River Ranch, Blackwoods.

I bought the expensive dog food for years. My two dogs were having problems with diarrhea, constipation, or throwing up....one day I was out of dog food and had to buy Western Family brand...the cheapest on the market. My dogs are happier, healthier and I haven't had to clean the carpet in months. Finding what agrees with your dog is all that matters.

Learning how to train your dog will improve your life and hers, enhance the bond between you, and ensure her safety and it can be a lot of fun. Dogs are usually eager to learn, and the key to success is good communication. Your dog needs to understand how you’d like her to behave and why it’s in her best interest to comply with your wishes.
