This has been happening for the last month or so...
My dog will be sleeping soundly, and then she suddenly wakes up and runs to another room with her tail between her legs. This just now happened and I know that nothing could have made her scared because I was in the room with her, and nothing happened. She just suddenly got all freaked out.

What could possibly be causing this? I don't think it's just bad dreams, because when it happens, she seems to be scared of the actual room that it happened in. But then about 30 seconds later she is fine again and she returns to the same room and falls right back asleep. I've seen her do this about 3 or 4 times now, and I need to know if anyone has any idea as to why this is happening. Thanks.

I usuallly am home alone with my sister on weekdays but we still have some freedom to walk places most of the time. My dog is an English Springer Spaniel, medium sized, very friendly, and pretty mellow (he's not really into chasing tennis balls or toys most of the time, although he can get a little hyped up sometimes especially around other dogs) PLEASE GIVE ME SOME GOOD IDEAS! I get so bored and love dogs so....please :)

I have a 3 year old female Greyhound. I recently noticed that her gums and gum line are red. I bought special Dog toothpaste and dog toothbrush, and she won't open her mouth for me when I try to brush them, most likely because when I do it hurts her gums because they bleed. Any suggestions as to how I can get my dogs teeth clean, without paying for a trip to the vet? The vet would probably just use drugs to put my dog to sleep for a short time, which are bad for Greyhounds. Also, how often should her teeth be cleaned?
Thanks.

My grandma went away for 2 weeks and i am watching her toy poodle randy. She shaved randy for the summer time, and i noticed he is very skinny. he is about 8 or 9 years old, but i have heard that small dogs can live more than 15 years. sometimes randy doesn't eat or drink, but his nose is wet and he seems ok. he only gets active when i take him to go to the bathroom. he gets extremely depressed when you leave him alone so that is why i had to take care of him in the first place. he loves being pet, in fact, if you stop petting him he throws a little fit and shoves his nose under your hand and paws your arm. but he hardly ever eats, and i have gotten him some special poodle food and he really likes it. but he doesn't eat a lot at all. i can feel every bone in his body. he was like this when he came over to my house. are small dogs supposed to look like this?

I've always wondered-What's the point in this? Do they do it for any specific reason or just for their appearance?

If he gets woken up he will bite anyone near him. If he gets scared or intimidated he growls and bites. If some one comes to the door he goes nuts and if I pick him up to take him to another room so I can answer the door, he just might bite then too. Other than that he is the sweetest little dog. I don't want to have to put him down so I am looking for alternatives. He has biten everyone of us including my female chihuahua, no fault of her own.

When he goes on the attack we have to grab him and hold him down til he chills. He is like Jeckle and Hyde. No kidding. He is full blooded and is 2 1/2 years old.

My female is the oposite, she is a lover all the time. She hates violence of any kind.

I hope some one has a solution that works. Thanks for your answers in advance.

My little 4 lb. 7 year old Maltese is recently making a clicking/poping sound when she walks. It is similar to the sound made when cracking nuckles. However, she is walking, running. playing, and seems to be in no pain. I can touch her feet without her flinching at all. I called the vet and it will cost a fortune for x-rays and she JUST went to the vet last week for her yearly ($150+). Does anyone have any idea what it is? Any vets out there? Any suggestions?

I've been breeding small dogs with my mother since you could say 6mths of age, but now we both are alittle curious to see what is in the making of a healthy designer. We bred once and got gourgoues pups here's a photo

These are the only two but aren't they precious?
The doctor said they are in healthy if not the healthiest condition for a young newborn, which means we choose the best *hehe*. So do you think we should continue?

I live in Arizona, and I was wondering what type of dog is good that is protective, semi-easy to train, can be alone for a part of the day, and will tolerate heat (i.e. 110 degree summer days).

If there is a dog breed that can take this, or is close, please let me know.

Thanks.

Lately my very good-natured dog has begun growling at my youngest child. We got him as a puppy, and he is now six. My son is 8. There have been no major changes in our home to upset him. No new babies or pets, etc.

Today the dog was laying on the floor, and my son patted him on his hip, and the dog growled. My son backed off, and the dog got up and growled and snapped. This is very unlike him. He is a very obedient, loving dog who usually gets along with everyone in the house. This has happened maybe 4 times in the last three months.

What could this be? And, what should I do? Suggestions?

My dog was fine yesterday, she ate and was playing. But today she has vomited at least 10 times. I think she might have ate too much grass because there was grass in the vomit. She isnt as active today, she'll play some what but she has gotten all of her shots for parvo. she doesnt have diarrhea.

Also, I don't know if its just a puppy's natural behavior, but he's very energetic, he's a nibbler, if you try and pick him up from the scruff he'll yelp, and he has a yipping bark.

I switched my puppy today from Nutro (too expensive) to purina puppy chow. He gulped it up! Is this a decent dog food? I know you are suppose to gradually change foods, but I ran out and went to get some more and tehy were out. I just gave it to him regularly. Will it make him sick?

How can you tell if your Chi has low blood sugar levels? Mine shakes alittle bit but isn't that normal? He eats but not alot. he is 8 weeks old and I just got him yesterday. I have tried feeding him dry puppy chow but he doesn't like it, I have tried to mix it with wet food and he seems to eat just the wet. I have also tried softening the dry with warm water, any suggestions? Also he doesn't seem to drink the water, HELP.

O.k. here's what I want to know:

I volunteer at an animal shelter, and when my boss was showing me around the place last week, she showed me the freezers where they put the deceased animals. When she explained them to me, she called them the "cadaver boxes". What I wanted to know is if shelters send the animals they put to sleep to colleges and science labs where the poor things contribute to some greater good. The reason I'm asking this is because I forget to ask the people that work up there while I'm volunteering during the day, and then I get home and remember my question, obviously too late to ask anyone. I thought maybe someone on here would be able to tell me what I wanted to know. Sorry it's such a morbid subject, but I would feel a little better if I knew for sure that there was some sort of good coming from the mindless killing of perfectly healthy dogs and cats. (Doesn't "cadaver" imply the use of a body for scientific research?). Thanks.
