Both she and the pup need to see the vet. In the meantime see if you can get her to drink more by "baiting" the water.. that is.. making it taste good... you can blenderize a bit of can of dogfood with water and it will be mostly liquid. I used to do this when I was active with my dogs in agility and it was hot outside.

White gums are a big sign of trouble. Get this dog and her pups to the vet as soon as possible. See if you can get some Pedialyte down her with a syringe. If you have an emergency vet near by I would go there immediately. The coughing puppy is also a big alert. Both these dogs need to see a vet.

Sounds like your dog has parvovirus. Provide lots of water and if the dog doesn't drink use a syringe or straw and make her drink. If she has parvo, she will die of dehydration before she dies of the virus. In the mean time, don't offer your dog anything to eat because it would upset her stomach. Take your dog to the vet and get her an antibiotic shot and some liquid charcoal to isolate the virus. Then don't feed your dog for a few days, but make sure she drinks lots of water. When your dog shows an interest in food again feed her some bland dog food (your vet will sell you some for around $1.00 a can)

Pale gums is usually moreso a sign of blood loss, rather than dehydration (you can tell dehydration by whether or not the loose skin on the neck ''snaps'' back to place or stays put when you lift it up).

Either way, sounds like both momma & babies are in need of a vet visit.

Oh stop it! Why are you asking unqualified strangers on the internet who haven't even seen your dog, let alone examined her, for free medical advice? You know what to do - TAKE HER TO THE VET! If her gums are white, she probably has anemia and you have already waited too long. If you wait longer, she could start to have seizures. Anemia can kill.

Stop wasting time on the computer and get off your lazy butt and get that dog and her sick puppy to the vet! It is their RIGHT BY LAW to receive proper medical attention and to deny it is abuse. When you call the vet, describe the symptoms to them as you have done here or they will think it's just for a regular appointment. You need to get her seen right away, so don't wait. And if your regular vet can't or won't see her right away, then call an emergency vet. Your dog does not want to eat because she HURTS! Don't let this continue without getting her help. And don't starting whining and sniveling that you "can't afford it." That is part of responsible pet ownership. If you can't afford to properly care for a pet, you have no right to have one, let alone let her breed! And when she is well enough and your vet advises it, do have her spayed. Don't add to more unwanted puppies in the world.

In my county alone there are four animal pounds. Each pound receives approx. 33 animals each day. That's 132 animals coming in DAILY. They almost have to euthanize them as fast as they come in because they do not have enough cages, or food, or homes for them all. Otherwise they'd be hip-deep in them too soon. And all this is because of irresponsible owners who let their pets breed without having them spayed or neutered - them dump the babies out into the world. And when you begin to try to find homes for the puppies (since I am sure you are not responsible enough to keep them all for life), do NOT give them away to strangers in front of a grocery store or put an ad in the newspaper for "free puppies." That will almost guarantee they end up either: being sold to a lab for experimentation, or being sold as bait to train fighting dogs. There are unscrupulous persons who pose as "nice people" in order to get such infants.

Now get that dog and her babies to a vet! You'd better have them all checked, since they could all have been exposed to whatever it is.

Take it to the vet, especially if she has puppies with issues as well. People think that the dog is getting sufficient liquid if the dog stops drinking or doesn't drink. That actually is a sign that the dog is getting worse.

Dehydration can be deadly and if she has the puppies cold, I just wouldn't wait.

grab the dogs skin, for 5 secs and let go, if the shape of your hand is still on hte dogs skin then it is dehydrated. Give her Pedyalite, or Gatorade. And take it to the vet, the same for the little one, dehydration can kill in few hours!

Take her to the vet, it could be dehydration or possibly an infestation or sounds like it could even be having seizures

But get her and her pups to a vet ASAP

I would definately take mom and all the puppies to the vet. they will probably give fluids... and it sounds like the puppy may have an uper respitory infection.. or the start of one and if one has it then all have been exposed and can easily get sick. if

Give her a lot of food and water. If she doesn't eat or drink she needs a vet visit.
