How can you tell if your Chi has low blood sugar levels? Mine shakes alittle bit but isn't that normal? He eats but not alot. he is 8 weeks old and I just got him yesterday. I have tried feeding him dry puppy chow but he doesn't like it, I have tried to mix it with wet food and he seems to eat just the wet. I have also tried softening the dry with warm water, any suggestions? Also he doesn't seem to drink the water, HELP.

Just leave him to settle in a while. Shaking is common with Chi's. Feed him a holistic or organic food, I reccomend Burns. Sometimes new pups don't eat for the first while, don't worry.

Also, make sure not to take him outside, other than your back yard until he has had all his vaccinations, pups are very vunerable.

Good luck! =)

Your puppy is probably fine, just needs to adjust to the new environment. You probably don't want to mix anything with his food, because you may make him a finicky eater (and, trust me, those are no fun). If he eats the wet, then he's just being finicky, not sick. Being a small dog, he only requires a very small amount of water... you probably just don't see him drink. Give him a few days to get used to his new home, he won't starve if he turns up his nose to food for a couple of days. He will learn to eat what he is given, and then you have solved a very annoying problem. Good luck!

What was he eating before? Being in a new environment is hard on Chi's, and then changing his food can be stressfull too. Mine is about 15 weeks old and he grabs a kibble and runs, eats it and then returns for another, but it's the same as what he had before.

I would make sure that the diet is the same and let him settle in.

He sounds very cute! But maybe he needs to settle in a little. Just give him awhile. If he still isn't eating, take him to a vet.
