I am a breeder and this is what I have used for 20+ years.
I would confine your puppy. Teh change can give him an upset stomach he may vomit or get diarhea. After about 2-3 days he should be fine but it may take a few days for his system to get accustomed to the change of dog food.

All dogs handle foods differently. Just look out for any vomiting and diarreah -- if there is any .. check around for more Nutro and switch gradually. (Though Nutro IS better than purina anything).
When I was switching my dogs food .. I had 2 cans in the fridge (new food and old food) and mixed it with dry food. .. Well one day I forgot to add some of the old food and nothing bad happened. I tried it again the next day .. and he was fine.
Though I tried this with my puppy when I first got her and she had diarreah and I had to put her on chicken and rice until her stomach settled! (I felt so bad) .. so every dog is different.
Now with my older dog I have the SAME dry food .. but just mix up the wet food.
So yes, just watch out for vomitting and diarreah. If any of that occurs, find a bag of Nutro and switch slowly.

I do not like purina, it has too many additives in it.
After doing a ton of research I decided to feed my dog Iaams. it is about $17 for 20#s, but Petsmart is always running deals on it. the real bonus I feed my dog 2/3 of what I fed him on the less expensive brand.
*whenever switching your dog food, do it gradually so they don't get sick. 2/3 old 1/3 new the first 2 days, then 1/2 & 1/2 then 2/3 new & 1/3 old. Good Luck

Purina puppy chow is a good diet to feed your dog. Proplan and Purina One are better diets but are also more expensive. Once you choose a diet stay consistent.
Your dog may have an upset stomach for a wee bit but it will pass.

None of the store brands of food are good quality...that includes Purina, IAMS/Eukanuba, Pedigree, Science Diet, Alpo, Beneful (one of the worst), etc...they are all loaded with cheap fillers and by products..it takes up to 3 times more of these low quality foods for a dog to get proper nutrition then it does of a good quality meat based food. feeding store brand foods because they are cheap is poor economy and not in the best nutritional intrest of your dog.
You should be choosing quality foods such as:
Canidae, Chicken Soup, Wellness, Innova, Premium Edge, Percise, Solid Gold just to name a few.

I've been feeding it to my black lab since he wondered onto my door step. it has since made him healthy and gives him a nice coat.
Yes, switching over to fast can make your dog sick. Next time do it gradually.

Purina is an excellent food (better than Nutro in my opinion). You might see some diarrhea initially from the abrupt food change.
