Why didn't you take him to a vet? Or at least ask a question earlier? He may have simply had worms (white gums). It's too late to do anything now. The dog might have lived with a mere five dollars worth of wormer.

Parvo also includes diarrhea....

The white gums leads me to wonder about worm infestation. which will cause pale/white gums.
A heavy infestation would cause vomiting cause the stomach is so full of worms the animal couldn't keep anything down.

You don't say how old your German Shepard was.... and why didn't you take him to the vet?

Asking for help now is pointless because the dog has already died.
Did you take the dog to the vet or did it just suffer at home til it died?
Any how if you want to know why it died have the vet do a necropsy, that should give you the correct reason why your dog died. No one here can answer because we can not see through the monitor to exam the dog.

Pale gums can be caused by lots of things, it is a pretty general symptom, as are throwing up and sleeping lots. What did the vet say? You could get a necropsy done, that'd be a sure way to find out.

Parvo is normally accompained with watery stool. It has a certain smell.. once you smell parvo there is no forgetting it.. there is no other smell like it. If your dog did have parvo do not bring another puppy into your home. Parvo can live in the ground up to a year.

I am so sorry for your loss.

White gums can signal dehydration OR anemia. It could have been anything from worms to parvo. What a shame you didn't get him help sooner. Best not to get another dog as if it was anything contagious, you'd just kill another dog.

So the vet didn't know what the diagnosis was? I am assuming you did take your poor dog to the vet to try to save it's life? Because parvo is a horrible suffering disease that requires immediate vet attention.

Parvo symptoms are usually lethargy and bad diarrhea and vomit, so your dog may have had that. Did you take your dog to the vet once he started vomiting and so on? How long did it go on before the dog died?

You can take your pet to the veterinarian and have an autopsy done. I don't think it costs very much, but you can call around and find out.

I am so sorry your pet died. :-(
