Maybe what you could do is block off an area of your yard and just use it for the dog, so you don't have to walk around the poop in the yard. Another idea is to get a retractable leash and attach a little fire hydrant device that they sell that has bags inside of it. That way when the dog poops outside you will always have a bag at hand and not have to worry you have to go get a bag and find the poop. Hope this helps you and Good Luck!

A puppy is more of a commitment than you (or most people for that matter) realize. There's more to it than getting him a check-up and pouring crappy food from Wal-Mart into a bowl. You have to consider the cost of getting him neutered, which ANY responsible owner will do, getting him quality food (which costs ALOT of money, especially for a bigger breed), training him properly, and so much more.
A puppy was not born just to make you happy. A truly good match is when a responsible owner takes in a puppy and raises him in a forever home. It is not fair to the dog when it happens ANY OTHER WAY.
Your best bet is to take on the care of the animals your family already has, and getting an idea of what it's really like. Then, when you're out on your own, get a puppy and raise him properly and responsibly.
Good Luck on your journey.

It is possible to train your dog to go to the bathroom in the same place each time; like behind the barn. Dogs who are kept in a clean environment will like to keep their area clean. We had a dog that would jump the fence to go to the bathroom away from the house and would then jump back over. Dogs prefer not to soil their own area unless they have no choice; that is why neighbors get so upset their other dogs in the neighborhood...it is always the neighbor without any dogs that gets dumped on. So get a book or go on line to learn how to train him and work your argument from that angle, with respect, and show your mom how hard you would be willing to work. Also make sure that is the real reason she doesn't want another dog. Maybe it was really hard on her to have to put the other dog down and she doesn't want that kind of hurt again.

I can't imagine that you have goats and cats and your Mom seriously expects you to believe you can't have a puppy because they poop. Don't goats and cats poop? And apparently you live on a farm, and you can't have a puppy??? This doesn't add up. Try hittin' mom with some logic and if she still says you can't have a puppy because of the poop outside, just tell her you'll make sure the puppy poops inside.

Well, I have always dreamed of being a breeder. When I got my first breeding pare they died. But now, I'm working on a project that she will LOVE!! She loves the show Desperate housewives and I like it a little. So, to get a good breeding thing for her and me with birds, I'm going to get a cage that looks like a house and put parakeets in it that look like the ones in the show! So you see, now she wants more birds. She's even got the cage already! And we just started! We have 0 desperate house birds.
So you see, give her a reason why you want it, then ask her why you can't have it. She'll come through!

My mom won't let me have a dog either because she hates the poop part. If animals didn't poop, she would let me have one too!
I would suggest you help clean up after the goats and cat poop and maybe she will see you will be ready to clean up your puppies litter!
Best Wishes!

I have heard the "mom can I have, pleassssse,, I promise I will pick up after it and take care of it and so on and so on and have given into a kitten. I have to remind him all the time to clean the cat box and to feed the cat. Then I hear, can I please have a puppy, I promissssssse I will take care of it.... I told him to start taking care of the cat first then I will consider it. Well, low and behold we have a puppy now.. it is a daily, "You have to spend time with her!"
The question to you is, have you shown responsibility of taking care of the other animals without mom having to pester you to do it??? If not, go take care of those other animals without saying anything to your mom and she will notice and may realize that you "might" take care of the puppy.... The thing is, puppies do require a LOT of time and patience while teaching them. Keep that part in mind, you cannot tell a puppy something once and expect the puppy to follow that rule all of the time with that one time telling.... I Hope this makes sense!

I'm thinking that your Mom is using the "poop" as an excuse for not getting the puppy...I don't understand why you would have a "pet" dog and keep it outside...regardless of whether or not it's in a barn. Dogs are social animals and there are infinite dangers to them if you let them live outside...not to mention...what's the point?

Give her some time I am sure she liked the dog that was put down as much as you do. Be an extra big help around the house and maybe she will decide that you really will help clean up the dog poop around the yard. Just be responsible and remember that whining will not help your case.
